Life in Christ Sep 30, 2023

Show notes

In today’s devotional, we’re going to examine what it means to have a life in Christ and the power of his resurrection. We think of resurrection primarily as the specific time when Jesus returns, and begins the process of finally making all things right. But the reality is that God invites us into a lifestyle of resurrection every day. Every day he wants to make us new, to renew us, transform us, and mold and fashion us more into his likeness. May God build within us a powerful culture of resurrection today as we draw near to his transformative love and presence.

Our Scripture for today comes from John 11:25, and today's worship is Resurrecting by Elevation Worship feat. Mack Brock.

With all the emotional and spiritual challenges of our time, one thing is clear — true peace is only found in the midst of God’s presence.

Yet finding that quiet space to be alone with God and receive his abounding love is not always easy.

God Meets Us in Our Weakness Sep 29, 2023

Show notes

In today’s devotional, we’re going to look at how God transforms us as we allow him to meet us at our place of weakness. You were never created to be self-sufficient, to have no need of relationship with God. Contrary to what the world tells us every day, weakness can actually be a tremendous source of strength when we allow God to meet us powerfully in humility. May God replace pressure and pride with peace and humility today as we meet with him right now.

Our Scripture for today comes from 2 Corinthians 12:9, and today's worship is

God Transforms Us Into New Creations Sep 26, 2023

Show notes

The prayer and worship of King David throughout the Psalms have stood the test of time since over 1000 years prior to Jesus’ birth and remain some of the most beautifully powerful prayers in all of scripture. King David was careful to take time to delight in the Lord particularly when his heart was downcast. 1 Samuel 30:6-8 says, “And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.” And in several of the Psalms he begins his prayers with praise, recognition of his heart’s truest desire, and rounds them out with self reflection. “Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.” David’s practice of acknowledging the beauty, majesty, love, power, and good intentions of the Lord toward him is what gave him the stability of mind to be able to be honest with God about reality while not losing hope. It is our prayer that this new Guided Prayer from our friend Laura Woodworth would serve to you as the first part of one of David’s psalms when you have a difficult time finding the words for yourself, and that they would give you the foundation of faith that your heart needs to share with the Lord your concerns so that you can do so with confidence that he hears you, knows you, and is working in all things for your good and his glory.

Renewal of Perspective Sep 24, 2023

Show notes

In our last episode of this week on renewal, today we’re looking at what it means to have a renewal of perspective. Lately for me, it seems like the difference between a bad day and a good day is simply just a difference in my perspective. And there’s hardly anything more empowering that realizing that we have the ability to change how we think, to shift our perspective, and therefore change how we feel and how we act. So may God give us the power and courage to choose the right perspective today, to see the world and our lives through his eyes.

Our Scripture for today comes from 1 John 2:17. Today's worship is Only Jesus by Brian Johnson.

Renewal of Purpose Sep 22, 2023

Show notes

In today’s devotional, we’re going to invite God to renew within us a true sense of purpose. Throughout the day I find my heart wandering to all sorts of purposes, some good, and some bad. But every day life teaches me that the one purpose that leads to the greatest measure of life and joy, is the pursuit of God. Not the pursuit of religion, but the authentic pursuit of relationship. May the Holy Spirit reveal within us the true reason we were created, and guide us down the path of purpose today in his presence.

In the middle of this week-long series on renewal, today we’re going to make room for God to renew our joy. May God guide us today into a meaningful renewal of joy as we set our eyes and hearts on him.
