    FNP 142 : Adam Kinakin - Working Within Canada's Gun Laws Feb 25, 2020
    Show notes

Adam Kinakin is the host and creator of the Tactical Breakdown Podcast. The Tactical Breakdown gives listeners a better understanding of training, tactics, and technology used by law enforcement, military and security professionals.

The show also has partnered with Caliber Press to bring a monthly roundtable of experts to discuss issues facing the tactical world. This is a live show the airs the last Thursday of every month.

Adam is also from Canada and we get into a discussion on the differences between the gun laws and cultural beliefs between the US and Canada. I found it a fascinating topic.

    FNP 141 : Jon Dufresne - Using Night Vision Feb 16, 2020
    Show notes

This is a "Part II" episode from a previous session I did with Jon "MochaBear" Dufresne where he talked about low light shooting. We didn't get to cover using Night Vision goggles, so I finally was able to sit down and record it with him. If you haven't heard it, I'll link that show below.

Jon, if you don't know about him, is a former US Army Ranger and now is a full-time firearms instructor. He travels the country teaching shooting, medical response and of course..night vision training. Jon also created a one-man clearing course called "Weaponized Geometry" that we talk about in the show.

If you ever wanted to know the how and why of night vision tech and shooting, carry on…

FNP 140 : William Petty - Vehicle Tactics for Everyone Feb 10, 2020
    Show notes

William Petty is a rising star in the tactical training arena. Petty, who is a law enforcement officer, has developed a highly popular vehicle tactics class that is now being taught by certified instructors around the country. We operate with and within vehicles all day long so it is necessary to understand the dynamics when it comes to winning a gunfight around a car.

William was a speaker at the 2017 Shooter's Summit and I felt it was a good time to release that audio episode to the podcast world. William also shared his insight of a trooper shooting back in 2018 and I'll link it down below.

    FNP 139 : Jared Reston - 12 Years Since Being Shot Jan 26, 2020
    Show notes

I wanted to replay an earlier episode (number 64) of the podcast on the 12 year anniversary of when Officer Jared Reston was shot multiple times in a shooting. Jared is a true warrior who overcame the odds and won the gunfight. Lots of lessons to learn…

Have you ever wondered what it was like to be in a gunfight? Chances are if you are listening to this podcast you might carry a gun on a daily basis. You might be a competitive shooter or an armed professional. Either way, anyone who has picked up a firearm has had the thought to themselves "what would I do?"

This week I'm starting a new series of podcast episodes where I deconstruct gunfights and speak to subjects who were involved and walked away. I get into the circumstances of the event and break down the play by play of the shooting. The actions of the bad guys as well as the tactics the winners, not survivors, used to overcome the odds. I'll look at what lessons can be learned from the event so that you can develop your mindset and train accordingly.

I came up with this idea for the series after interviewing Scott Reitz on episode 57. Scott, the former LAPD SWAT officer, was involved in five gunfights in his career and was able to teach the lessons he learned to his students.

In this first episode, I'm also speaking with a law enforcement officer who's been in multiple gunfights. Jared Reston works for the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and is a SWAT officer. He is also a firearms instructor for his company the Reston Group. On January 26th, 2008, Jared was working an off duty detail at a shopping mall when security notified him and his partner of two shoplifters attempting to flee. One of the shoplifters ran away and Jared chased after him. After catching up to the suspect, Jared got into a confrontation with him and thought he was punched in the face. In reality, the suspect had been able to draw his gun and shoot Jared in the mouth.

Once Jared fell down an embankment, the suspect went in to finish Jared off, but Jared's will to win kicked in and the gunfight was on. Find out what Jared did to win on this first episode of Deconstructing Gunfights.

    Special thanks to Dean Scoville.

    FNP 137 : Wayne Black - Revisiting Church Security Dec 31, 2019
    Show notes

This is a replay of episode 110 from back in May 2019. After the horrible attack at the church in White Settlement, Texas I felt compelled to re-release this episode specifically since it deals with how to protect your church and synagogues. Two institutions under attack.

Wayne Black is a security expert. His company, Wayne Black and Associates handles executive protection, security, and investigations for a lot of high profile clients. Some of those clients also include churches and synagogues who now face threats every day.

With the recent attacks on our religious institutions, I reached out to Wayne (who's been a guest on episode 19) to come on again and discuss options for churches or synagogues to harden their security and protect their congregants.

FNP 136 : Best of 2019 - JJ Racazza, Ron Avery and Yong Lee Dec 24, 2019
    Show notes

So long 2019 and hello 2020. In this final episode of the year, I look back at the top three episodes (in terms of downloads) in the past three months. JJ Racazza, Ron Avery and Yong Lee. All top competitive shooters and all were involved in law enforcement (interesting…)

JJ Racazza is a world champion shooter and is always at the top of the leader board. I took a class from JJ and he taught an interesting theory on how to attack targets in order to speed up transitions. We also talk about how he sets up his guns.

    JJ Racaza Episode 123

Ron Avery past away this year and it was a loss for the shooting community. Ron has a science background and he brought that approach to shooting and how he taught.

    Ron Avery Episode 99

Yong Lee was a SWAT officer and trainer for his police department before he retired this year. Yong is also a competitive shooter and has some of the fastest splits around. Yong shoots with a pistol optic and we discuss specifically how to zero the dot to the gun.

FNP 135 : Bennie Cooley - Action with Purpose (Summit Replay) Dec 11, 2019
    Show notes

This episode comes from the 2016 Shooter's Summit. I was asked about releasing this episode into the wild from a fan of the show. Bennie Cooley has been a legend in the 3 Gun community with some of the top stars of both 3 Gun and modern warriors all learning and training with him.

Bennie is a no-nonsense type of guy with lots of great knowledge on shooting as well as staying alive in a gunfight. I had an opportunity to train with him and by far it was the best rifle class I ever took. Highly recommended…
