    • Peter (og Valerie): Cool Stuff: Ant-Man Wrote A Memoir (Yes, Really) And You Can Pre-Order It Now
    • "Look Out For The Little Guy”
    • 256-page book
    • $26.99
    • Comes out in september, months after Quantumania
    • What other fictional books from movies do you wish were real?
    • Peter (og Lex): Peacock's Free Subscription Tier Is Going Away With A Pivot To Premium Content
    • Free tier is not available for new users but they will not remove the feature for those who are already subscribed.
    • The move is "part of Peacock's growth strategy," which includes a shift to a $5 Premium membership that offers a larger catalog of content.
    • Premium Plus tier for $10 comes offline downloading.
    • Is freemium over? Or does the free tier option just make the content feel cheap?
    • Mid-Roll Sponsor break: “we’re going to take a quick break, and we’ll be right back”
    • Peter (og Erin): Here's How Netflix Will Try To Keep You From Sharing The Password To Your Account
    • mandating that each device with a specific login be connected to the same WiFi network at least once every month.
    • This network will be considered the primary network for every account and profile, and those that do not connect through this network will be forced to sign up for an individual account.
    • "When a device outside of your household signs in to an account or is used persistently," says the streamer's help center, "we may ask you to verify that device before it can be used to watch Netflix or switch your Netflix household."
    • To verify a device: Netflix sends a link to the email address or phone number associated with the primary account owner, The link opens a page with a 4-digit verification code. The code needs to be entered on the device that requested it within 15 minutes. If the code expired, you will need to request a new verification code from the device. Once successful, that device can be used to watch Netflix. Device verification may be required periodically.
    • Is it a mistake not to offer a tier for an extended family?
    • Peter (og Valerie): Showtime Has A Stupid New Name, And They've Canceled A Handful Of Shows Too
    • "Paramount+ with Showtime"
    • Thoughts on the new name?
    • the merger will likely result in layoffs and programming shake-ups
    • three Showtime series — "Let The Right One In," "Three Women," and "American Gigolo" — have already been canceled with the showrunners shopping around for new homes.
    • The memo obtained by The Hollywood Reporter comes via Paramount CEO Bob Bakish: "This new combined offering demonstrates how we can leverage our entire collection of content to drive deeper connections with consumers and greater value for our distribution partners.”
    • The "full integration" of Showtime and Paramount+ will take place later this year, and will also impact the premium tier of Paramount+, which will share the new title along with Showtime programming options.
    • Chris McCarthy, President and CEO of Showtime and Paramount Media Networks, writes in another memo that the company will stop investing in projects that "are underperforming and that account for less than 10% of our views.
    • Seems to me like streaming will have to be alot more data based

Our First Look At DCU's Reboot! Feb 01, 2023
    Show notes

    Opening Banter:

In The News: DC Universe Movie Slate Announced: Superman: Legacy, Swamp Thing, The Batman 2, And More

    Movies:

    • Superman: Legacy (July 11 2025): James Gunn's Superman Is A 'Big Galoot' With One Major Weakness: 'He Doesn't Want To Hurt A Living Soul'
    • Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow: Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow Will Feature A Harsher, More Messed-Up Hero Than Superman
    • Swamp Thing:
    • Jeremy: Why Swamp Thing Is The Most Exciting Part Of James Gunn's New DC Universe
    • The Authority: The Authority Is James Gunn's Passion Project In The New DC Universe
    • "Well, I mean, number one, it's a very complicated issue. It's not cut and dry. There's a lot of technical stuff around what pieces actually enter the public domain, which you may or may not know about. So there's that. But there's also that's one of the reasons why we have Superman and that's why we're bringing the Authority into mainstream. I mean, who would've thought 11 years ago the two most popular rides in the world are Guardians of the Galaxy ride. Two most popular rides in the world are based on a comic that f*cking 20,000 people knew. And so being able to try to create these other properties, use our diamonds, our Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, to prop up our Booster Golds or Green Lanterns or Plastic Mans or whatever is important."
    • The Brave and The Bold: James Gunn's DC Universe Announces The Brave And The Bold, Will Introduce A New Batman And Damian Wayne
    • Rafael: Why Adding Robin To The New DC Universe Is The Most Exciting Batman News In Years
    • Mid-Roll Sponsor break: “we’re going to take a quick break, and we’ll be right back”

    TV Series:

    • Lanterns: DC Universe Plans Include Lanterns, A True Detective-Style TV Series
    • Booster Gold: Booster Gold Is Getting A Series As Part Of The DC Universe Slate
    • Ben: Why Booster Gold Is The Most Exciting Part Of James Gunn's New DC Universe
    • Creature Commandos (animated): Creature Commandos Animated TV Series Is Coming To James Gunn's DC Universe, Weasel Will Return
    • Paradise Lost: Wonder Woman Lassoes A Prequel TV Series In DC Universe's New Project Slate
    • Waller: Viola Davis To Star In Waller Series From Watchmen And Doom Patrol Writers For New DC Universe

    • Before Chapter 1:
    • Shazam: Fury of the Gods (March 17):
    • "Shazam has always been off kind of in his own part of the DCU, so he connects very well,"
    • The Flash (June 16): James Gunn Says The Flash Is One Of The Best Superhero Movies He's Ever Seen, Ezra Miller's Future Up In The Air
    • "f****** amazing,It's truly one of the best superhero movies I've ever seen. Andy Muschietti did an amazing job. And I'm really excited for everybody to see it."
    • Flash “resets everything”
    • Asked about Ezra's place in the DCU going forward, Safran said: "Let's see what happens. Ezra is fully committed to recovering right now. And we talk to them, we're in constant contact. But when the time is right we'll have the conversation with them and decide what's best for both them personally and also for us."
    • Blue Beetle (August 18):
    • Blue Beetle Fits Into James Gunn's New DC Universe By Being 'Totally Disconnected'
    • Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (December 25):
    • Broad Info on the Phase:
    • Elseworlds
    • “Yeah, and the DC is a multiverse, but we're going to be focusing on one universe from that multiverse. And if something isn't DCU, we're gonna make that very clear. So strictly adult fare like Todd Phillips, Joker, or, you know, kids animation like Teen Titans Go, we're gonna, we're gonna make it very clear that those are DC Elseworlds just the same way that we're doing in the comic books.”

    • DC Studios Co-CEO Peter Safran Agrees With The Decision To Shelve Batgirl
    • The New DC Universe Will Be Film Or Television, PG-13 Or Mature, Depending On The Story
    • All New DC Universe Movies, TV Shows, And Games Will Share A Multiverse
    • New DC Universe Video Games Will Be In Continuity With Film And Television
    • No Characters Are Off The Table For James Gunn's DC Universe, Clashing Tones Are Part Of The Plan
    • where there are any characters they're not allowed to touch — like Joker. "No one is off the table!" they replied simultaneously and without hesitations. "[Joker] is under us too," Gunn added. "Everything is under us."
    • “Even though this is all a connected universe, it's important to me that the individual writers and directors that are on the project give their own self-expression to it, just like they do in the comics," Gunn answered, once again emphasizing that "this is not the Gunn-verse."
    • ing · kaang · roo · uhs
