Feet of Clay—Confessions of the Cult Sisters

Feet of Clay – Confessions of the Cult Sisters – What’s it like to live in a Christian cult commune? How the hell do smart people get brainwashed into crazy beliefs and behaviors?  Tracey & Sharon share their parallel journeys into and out of Last Days Ministries, led by Christian music super-star Keith Green (and later his wife Melody Green).  Plus they interview others who also got out of high-control groups and toxic churches.   Arranged marriages?  Purity culture virgins?  Religious trauma?  Submission of women and misogyny? Child abuse?  Sexual assault?  Power hungry patriarchy?  Heinous homophobia? Christian nationalism and politics?  Yep, we touch on it all.  Hear stories of escaping evangelicalism, surviving spiritual manipulation, deconstructing fundamentalism and so much more!  Former cult sisters, now turned Exvangelical, tell all with humor and healing, compassion and comedy.  Bi-weekly.

TRIGGER WARNING - Discussion of attempted sex crime against a minor.

We are so honored to speak with Karisten, who worked directly for Steve Greisen at Exploration Films / ExploreFlix, for 4 years from 2020 to 2024. She was the executive administrative assistant responsible for the financials, communications and so much more.

Steve and Nelly Greisen lied to Karisten and managed to completely hide the facts of his crime, arrest and sentencing.... she was utterly shocked to learn the truth a full 2 years later, after which she immediately quit.

Karisten bravely shares personal details from behind Greisen's "Christian" facade, and tells a tale of hypocrisy, greed, and so much more. Hers is thus far the only voice of anyone near to Steve who is calling for accountability.

    A few lyrics:
When I finally picked up that brush
    Dragged it through the blush
    Oh, what a revelation
    It felt like a salvation
When I painted what was inside out
    Puckered her lips and pouted
    What a situation
I think I found my new vocation
    But honey, you said wait
    Based on my inherited values
    That I have not investigated
    This makes me uncomfortable
    It's such a scandal
And it's hard for me to handle
    And I said great
    I don't know why you think you're
Entitled to a certain presentation from others
But I am happy to dismantle it
Cause this is not your body
    ...
Stay proud, radiate, only love can drive out hate!
