    Feeling Things with Amy & Kat

    Feeling Things with Amy & Kat is a podcast for anyone who’s ever had feelings—or wants to. Hosted by Amy Brown and therapist Kat Van Buren, this is a space where nothing is off-limits. From deep reflections on childhood to pop culture obsessions to what’s happening in the world, all feelings deserve a seat at the table—big, small, awkward, joyful, confusing, and everything in between. At its core, it’s real friends having real conversations about real feelings. Some episodes go deep, some stay light, but all are rooted in curiosity, honesty, and connection. In a world that moves fast, sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is pause… and feel things.

    You Don't Have To Be In The Spotlight To Be Successful with Tim Shurrer Sep 01, 2022
    Show notes

    Amy is pumped to finally connect with Tim Shurrer!! Is your definition of success leaving you restless and empty? Tim can help with that and he's on to talk about his new book: The Secret Society of Success!

    There’s a message getting a lot of airtime these days. It says to be successful, you have to step into the spotlight, climb the ladder, become the boss, or chase whatever version of success that’s been dangled in front of you.
    But what if there’s another way? What if fame, money, and power aren’t all that we should be chasing?
    In The Secret Society of Success, Tim Schurrer invites you to reevaluate your definition of success and learn a new, freer way to go about achieving it. How do you learn this approach? With the Secret Society as your guide—a community of people who know how to make an impact, whether they have the spotlight or not. The Secret Society will teach you to
    • define success for yourself;
    • contribute to your team without minding who gets the credit;
    • make an impact that spans far beyond yourself, regardless of the size of your platform;
    • navigate living in the tension between contentment and striving;
    • go from feeling anxious, overwhelmed, and restless in your job to being confident in the value you bring to the team; and
    • discover meaning and fulfillment in the work that you do.
    Through powerful stories of people like the CEO of Apple Tim Cook, NBA all-star LeBron James, Fred Rogers of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, and people whose names you’ve never heard of, you will discover that the success you’re looking for is within your reach, wherever you are and whatever your role.

    Tim knows what it takes to build a winning team. He spent almost a decade of his career launching two brands—StoryBrand and Business Made Simple—as COO alongside New York Times bestselling author Donald Miller. Before that Tim worked at TOMS as well as Apple Inc. He is the host of the Build a Winning Team podcast, where he offers listeners actionable advice as he interviews some of the top leaders in business. Tim lives in Nashville, Tennessee, with his wife, Katie, and their two kids.

    Turn Obstacles Into Opportunities, The Friendship Deck, & More (5th Thing) Aug 30, 2022
    Show notes

    Welcome to the '5th Thing' with Amy & Kat!! Today’s quote is from an IG post that @GabbyBernstein put up about seeing obstacles in life as detours in the right direction (when you choose to see life this way “you can begin to find a deeper meaning and personal growth amidst the discomfort.”) This reminded Amy of a book she read a couple of years ago called ‘Obstacle Is The Way’ that she highly recommends!

    Kat introduces us to ‘The Friendship Deck’ in this episode!! “If you are craving more realness and authenticity in your friendships, but don’t know where to start, the Friendship Deck is for you.” She went through some of the cards with Amy to show what it’s like to use these cards to learn more about your friends and feel more connected!!

    Amy’s Embarrassing Mishap, Grieving Is Not Selfish, New Beginnings, Stalking Mel Robbins & More (5th Thing) Aug 23, 2022
    Show notes

    Welcome to the '5th Thing' with Amy & Kat!! Today’s quote is: “just keep swimming…just keep swimming” from Dory in Finding Nemo (a listener, Chelsea, included this quote in their email and we love it!) Amy actually had to apply the “just keep swimming” motto during an interview she recently did with Dr. Becky Kennedy…something embarrassing happened and Amy was mortified…but she had to just keep trucking along (she was geeking out to even be chatting with @DrBeckyAtGoodInside - IYKYK!!!) Amy’s interview with Dr. Becky will air mid-September FYI for those of you that are also excited about it. Then, Amy & Kat dove into some emails: one from Ithzel (a listener that was diagnosed with cancer) updating us that she will be able to pursue her dream more of becoming a CRNA. Chelsea’s email about grieving a miscarrage…we know this is an email that someone else out there needs to hear because it’s never selfish to take the time to grieve and do what you need to do for yourself!! They also discuss Amy doing a ‘4 Things Live’ event and filming an episode of ‘Building Roots’ (Amy’s sister’s show on HGTV!!)
