    Landscape photography at Acadia National Park with Chris Smith: OOC Podcast Episode 57 Nov 04, 2016

    On this episode of the Out of Chicago Podcast, Chris Smith talks about all of the upcoming Out of Chicago conferences, including next October’s Out of Acadia Conference.

    The second annual Out of Chicago Winter Conference will run February 18-19, 2017. Chris mentions some of the classes that will be offered, as well as some of the shooting experiences. Look for additional details and registration coming soon!

    For the fourth year, the Out of Chicago Summer Conference will run June 23-25, 2017, with David Duchemen as the keynote speaker on Friday night. Registration is already open; additional details will be announced in the coming weeks.

    But what we’re most excited about is the Out of Acadia Conference — a one-of-a-kind photography experience taking place at Acadia National Park!

    Out of Acadia will be our first-ever landscape-oriented photography event. Chris mentions multiple locations throughout the park to look forward to, from the gardens to the mountains and shores of Bar Harbor.

    The event takes place October 1-5, 2017 in Bar Harbor, Maine, right outside of Acadia National Park. Excursions, sessions, a daily group meal and more are all included — you even get to experience an authentic Maine lobster boil!

    In this episode of the Out of Chicago Podcast, Out of New York Conference presenter James Maher joins Chris Smith. James talks about his involvement in the conference, including his class, “Exploration Through the Works of Famous Street Photographers.”

    James also gives some of his favorite locations for street photography in the city — Central Park, Strand Bookstore, Coney Island, the New York subway system, Bushwick, the City Hall District, Manhattan Bridge and the Brooklyn waterfront. He also tells us some of his favorite street photographers, including New Yorkers Garry Winogrand, Bruce Davidson and Matt Weber.

    Finally, James also gives some tips on how to overcome your fears and get started with street photography.
