But romance doesn't have to be stuck in the '60s. The Eyres give some tips on how romance can evolve through the years and how to keep the spark going.

Protecting Kids Through Responsibility Feb 16, 2019
    Show notes

There is so much to watch out for in media these days, and one of the big things kids can pick up is an entitlement attitude. Today Richard and Linda share some tips on how responsibility can curb those thoughts and also protect kids in other ways by keeping them busy and productive on good things. It may seem counterintuitive, but like the saying goes, you can give your kids more by giving them less.

Keeping Attention on our First Priority Feb 09, 2019
    Show notes

In 2019 there is a lot fighting for our kids' attention. Phones, video games, school, TV, friends, and so much more can sometimes confuse priorities. But adults aren't immune to the distractions of the day. In order to provide great examples for our family, parents and grandparents should remember what our priorities are and focus on family too. Today Richard and Linda offered some great websites that can turn our phones into a positive force: valuesparenting.com, poweroffamilies.com for the Eyres tips and and tricks ifstudies.org The Institute of Family Studies can send you a bulletin 71toes.com, drippingwithpassion.blogspot.com, lovetaza.com for some of the Eyres' favorite mommy blogs. Including some from their own family. and of course The Eyres Instagram @richardlindaeyre

    Get Help Feb 02, 2019
    Show notes

Richard and Linda are on the road to relaxation this week. While working on writing a new book they are spending some family/down time in Hawaii. The Eyres visit family a lot, and part of that travel is to offer generational help with kids. Today they focus on the help you can get in parenting from your own extended family and also from a higher power.

Applying Happiness: Replace Independence with Synergicity Jan 26, 2019
    Show notes

Today Richard and Linda conclude their short three part series on how to turn family relationships upside-down by removing decieving traits and inserting helpful ones. You might not be familiar with synergicity, but you probably understand the root. Synergy is the idea that the whole is more than just the sum of its parts, and in relationships that means when you work together you can accomplish more than you could independently.

Applying Happiness: Replace Ownership with Stewardship Jan 19, 2019
    Show notes

Don't be an ownership parent, be a stewardship parent. Today the Eyres dive into the second deceiver from Richard's new book The Happiness Paradox in the second episode in a short series. Ownership can be such a point of pride in American culture, but the quest for more ownership can tear families apart. Replacing that attitude with one of stewardship can bring a unified focus to He from whom all things come.

Applying Happiness: Replace Control with Serendipity Jan 12, 2019
    Show notes

Happy New Year from the Eyres and you know what that means; it's New Year's Resolution time. For these next three Saturdays in January (before you give up on your good intentioned goals) Richard and Linda will be focusing on how to improve happiness in your family by letting go of certain traits, and replacing them with better ones. Today learn about control and how an attitude of serendipity can relieve that stress.

New Book for the New Year: Happiness Dec 29, 2018
    Show notes

Today the Eyres give us a sneak peak at their new book The Happiness Paradox, which will be released on New Year's day. There are paths that lead to happiness in our families and the paths that lead away from it. As Richard and Linda explain on the show today, most of us pursue Control, Ownership, and Independence in the belief that the more of them we have, the happier we will be. But in fact, these are the three things that pull us away from true happiness. The first “side” of the book presents the problem, and when the book is flipped over, the alternative attitudes of Serendipity, Stewardship and Synergicity are suggested as the opposite approaches that can “turn our lives right-side up” and make us better spouses and better parents. These can also work as great goals for the New Year. For the next three days there is a pre-pub sale at www.amazon.com/gp/product/164170053X, and you can read more about the book there or on the home page of www.valuesparenting.com.

Refugees at Christmas Dec 17, 2018
    Show notes

Last week on the show, Richard and Linda shared ideas of how to turn the focus of your holiday season outward. After some great feedback on that episode they'd like to talk more extensively this week on some specific ways to help others, and ways to make it a family effort. After all, the first Christmas story was about a small family of refugees. It's a season we can turn our hearts to those in need and children have a knack for that kind of empathy that can surprise you. For more information on what the Eyres talked about this week you can visit https://talentpledge.org/salt-lake-city-children-for-children-benefit-concert-2018/
