As always in the first week of a month, they challenge us to a new twist in our gratitude journals, focusing each day on being thankful for one thing we do not control--from our digestion or sweat glands to the sunset or the weather. The idea is to focus our gratitude this month on Serendipity and Stewardship.

It sounds counter-intuitive--being grateful for opposition and problems and adversity, but actually these things are an important and essential part of thankfulness and gratitude. As on every first week of the month, Richard and Linda issue a challenge on a new approach to gratitude journals for the month ahead, and for August their challenge is to write down an obstacle each day and how we either resolved it or embraced it.

It is our envisioned ends that can guide and direct our whole lives!
