Show notes

After another night in the chaotic Pac-12, we wake up to find that Utah is *checks notes* second?? Gary Parrish and Matt Norlander handicap the league race and set the over/under at 3.5 for Pac-12 tourney bids. After that, Norlander recaps what he saw Wednesday night in Storrs, where UConn's home rally fell short against Xavier. He's still in on Connecticut, and so is GP. Beyond that, we've got an amusing update from a hospital bed in South Carolina, we pay respect to Billy Packer (rest in peace to a CBS legend), and tour the weekend with picks and a previewing, including Norlander's swing through Indiana on Saturday and Sunday.

The Lions snapped Gonzaga's 76-game home winning streak. Historic night, which means Gonzaga's 1-seed streak is the next thing to go. And, as always on Friday, the Final Four And 1.

Clemson is king of the ACC—so far; Kentucky nabs biggest win of noisy weekend; Arkansas, Zona, UConn trending ⬇️(College Basketball 01/15) Jan 16, 2023

Show notes

Disclaimer: Episode was taped prior to the news of Alabama's Darius Miles being arrested and charged with capital murder.

The Clemson Tigers are 7-0 in ACC play for the first time in history. This could be the best Tigers team since 1990. Elsewhere, Kentucky put a stop to its losing skid. At Arkansas, we ponder whether or not the Razorbacks can hold it together long enough to make the NCAA Tournament after a bad loss to Vanderbilt. And before we take a look at the Monday and Tuesday slate, we take a bird's eye view of the college basketball landscape that saw 11 ranked teams lose this weekend—the most in a single day in almost 12 years.

Show notes

Where to start after the past 48 hours? Let's go with the Big 12, which is very chaotic at the top. Kansas State is getting some more love after toppling Baylor over the weekend. Is this a top-10 team? Iowa State, we see you, too. Elsewhere, Kentucky took another bad loss. Arizona took an even worse one, somehow. Weird, really. We recap what has been a crazy (so: typical?) weekend.
