Episode 173: Talking to Your Kids About Tragedies Oct 06, 2017
    Show notes

Oh boy. Where do I start? I feel so sad and overwhelmed and so many times these feelings leave me paralyzed into doing nothing. But we can’t do nothing. When bad things happen, we can’t do nothing. We must rise and let our light shine. It’s hard enough to do that ourselves, but what on earth do we tell our kids? So today I’m talking about an article I read that really helped guide me in knowing how to talk to our kids about tragedies. And really these principles can be applied to other hard things, loss, etc… I’m not expert. I’m just a mom who cares deeply about showing my kids that their little light can make a difference and while there may be people who make bad choices in the world, their good choice matters.

I first found out about Ashley through my friend Brooke, when she showcased her RV that she and her family currently live in. Not only is their RV darling and even I want to live in it, Ashley is spunky, outgoing, and an extraordinary mom of three! We had a wonderful chat about how she ended up in an RV, how she keeps it organized, what it has done to their pace of life, and more! You’re going to love getting to know Ashley.

Episode 170: Living in Africa with Angela Olsen Sep 26, 2017
    Show notes

Olsen Family Photo Faith Walking Frame Olsens in Kenya

Guys. This is one of my favorite episodes to date. Angela Olsen is an incredible mom of two who currently lives in Africa because her husband works as a doctor at a mission hospital there. Not only is she amazing because she lives internationally, but she also goes in-depth about her son being born with Down Syndrome and how that impacted their plans to move to Africa. She shares the stigma surrounding people with special needs over there, how she intends to offer resources to families of children with special needs, and what healthcare is like over there. In short, she’s amazing! This is a must listen!

I had the best time chatting with KariAnne Wood on the show. Not only does she chat all about she ended up moving from suburban Dallas to RURAL Kentucky, but we also talk about her new book, “So Close to Amazing”, which recently released. She is currently parenting teenagers, so I gained so much from hearing how she developed good relationships with her kids while they were young so they could be “her people” when they got older. So awesome. Definitely, go pick up her book! AND… you can WIN one of her books. Head over to my Instagram to enter. (runs for 48 hours)

As a mom and CEO of a baby company, she recognizes the challenges she had to overcome, but also how those experiences have shaped her into the strong, empathetic person she is today. Fav Food: Pasta Salad and Crockpot Ribs (stand the ribs up tall around the sides of the crockpot and add 1/2 cup water to the center after coating them with dry rub of your choice and after cooking on low all day, place on a sheet pan, coat with bbq sauce and broil for a few minutes)

Fav Clothes: Fav Online shop lately is Poppy and Dot (follow them on Insta) and I am loving these new jeans I got. Cute frayed bottom (but not too intense) and higher waisted.
