Let's talk all about how this pandemy is affecting us, our kids, how we interact with each other. All of it. We are going over what we have seen in our own kids, what our kids have discussed with us in regards to the changes they have seen in themselves and their peers and how it has impacted them. While what we are going to talk about right now is just a SMALL part of the whole it is important to get the conversation started. We are going into our opinions on a very small portion of this very divisive topic.

We will not be covering the politics, the Vx, the shit show that is this entire subject. What we really want to bring to the forefront is how this is changing our kids, how we are parenting, how we are functioning as people.

We hope we can keep this conversation going with a reminder that all choices matter, all opinions are valid, and we are not here to shame anyone.

This week we have our first guest on the podcast and it is Ruth from @thequestionablemom on Instagram. We were so honored to be able to speak with her about her experience with postpartum depression (PPD), as we know this is not an easy subject to talk about. Ruth has been documenting her motherhood journey on Instagram for awhile now, including advocating for more awareness around PPD, and has been an amazing resource and help to many parents and especially women struggling with PPD. She is real, honest, funny, and an all around amazing woman who is not going to put a filter on motherhood. This episode is all about her struggle with PPD, how she realized she had it and needed help, how she is still coping, and more. We are going to be pretty raw in this episode so please be aware of that. When we sat down to do this episode we really felt it was going to be about ways to communicate how to talk to your significant other on ways to feel more appreciated, beautiful, loved and accepted in a relationship, but it went a lot different than anticipated. While it is important to feel those things in our relationships with our significant other, it starts within ourselves (as cliché as that sounds). How are we expecting others to look at us and tell us how beautiful we are if we are tearing ourselves down in the mirror every day? Why do we feel like we need the validation of someone else to make up our self worth? This week we are really talking about how we need to flip the narrative and remind ourselves of our own value, worth, and beauty because loving ourselves and looking in the mirror and saying "yo that a$$ is killer" is where it's at. Being a parent is hard and sometimes we try to make things easier. One way some of us choose to do that is by making friends with our kids. This weeks episode is all about how making friends with our kids can be detrimental in the long run, and even dangerous. Monica and Aja go into all the experiences they have in regards to this issue, including problems in their own childhoods when their parents chose this route and why it was damaging.
