FSU hoops: FSU vs. Miami post game Jan 18, 2020

Take the win and go home. After a stressful 83-79 OT win, the Seminoles are now 16-2 (6-1) and tied atop the ACC.

Matt and Michael got together post game to talk about what went well and what didn't. Devin Vassell, MJ Walker, and Anthony Polite got a lot of love, while FSU's clunky offensive performance and Coach Hamilton's management of the rotation took some shots.

But the end result was that FSU won its 9th straight overtime game, and you have to go back to 2008 to find an OT game vs. an ACC opponent where FSU came up on the short end. And considering what has been happening to top-10 teams of late, stretching out that OT streak will garner the 'Noles a lot of votes in next week's AP Poll.

Now Florida State has a week off, and will be back in action next Saturday against Notre Dame.

FSU hoops: Virginia mega preview Jan 15, 2020

Matt’s on the road. Michael is sick. Clemson is beating Duke. But we don’t let these things distract us. The No. 9 Florida State basketball team is getting ready to host the defending national champion Virginia Cavaliers, and we’ve got everything you need to know about the game.

We break down Virginia’s famous pack line defense - what it is, and how to attack it. Their defense isn’t just legit, it’s battling to be statistically the best defense in decades. And the key to beating it is either Trent Forrest having a great game or avoiding it all together by generating live ball turnovers.

We talk about Mamadi Diakite and how Virginia has become a bit one dimensional on offense as opposing coaches are making other players beat them. We spend too much time talking about Kihei Clark, their diminutive point guard who had the luxury of Kyle Guy and Ty Jerome help run the point last year, and is struggling a bit without them.

And we discuss their 3-point shooting without even laughing.

After the Louisville game several things became clear that could keep Florida State’s season headed in the right direction, and we discuss which of those things the Seminoles did well vs. the Demon Deacons.

After taking a break to enjoy the holidays Matt and Michael jumped back into the studio to talk some basketball. You may not have noticed but Florida State is pretty good, and we took a few minutes to break down what happened in Louisville. No, FSU isn’t going to make 11 3s every game, but there are some great takeaways that the team can build on.

Plus there is a game tomorrow night in Winston-Salem and we talked about how Wake Forest can pull the upset. Then we gave our predictions so you can see if we think that upset is coming.

We also argued whether the 2010’s was the best decade in the history of the program, and reminisced about our favorite games (spoiler: Michael Snaer is still clutch). Finally, we took a quick tour through what you may have missed - like UNC being terrible - during the holidays.
