A Prayer to Know His Majesty by Nicolet Bell
Today we're in Psalm 8 — praying that our children would know how big God is and how much He cares intimately for them. That that would change their perspective. That it would remind them of the God they serve and their relationship with Him.

Prayer: Oh, Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth. Forgive us, Father, for the ways that we lose sight of your majesty and we live small-minded. May we magnify you in our homes. We want to make you a big deal to our children. Lord, teach my children to view you rightly. Remind them of how big you are and assure them of how much you care intimately for them. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

Help them to be confident that you hear them and accept their prayers, even when the answer may not come in the way they expect or in the timing that we expect. Assure my children of your good plans for their lives and help them to trust in you, even when we get almonds instead of peanut M&Ms. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

Prayer: Father, help my children to be set apart for you and for your work. Help them to resist sin, to live sacrificially, and to put their trust in you. Lord, help them to be comfortable in the silence so they can hear your voice. Lift up the light of your face upon them and put more of your joy in their hearts. May they lie down and sleep in peace, knowing you alone, O Lord, make them dwell in safety. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

Psalm 1 reminds us that kind of life starts with delight. Delight in the Word. Meditating on it day and night. This summer, we're praying that our children would have a deep desire for God — and that starts with us.

Prayer: Father, give my children a desire for you. Help them to delight in your word. Show me how to help our family meditate on it day and night. I desire for my children to be planted by streams of water, to be rooted deeply in your word, drawing refreshment from your living waters. Help them not to seek to quench their thirst in the things of this world, but to know you are the only one who satisfies our thirsty souls. Lord, in this new pace of summer, would you help us to pause and to dedicate time to meditate on your word day and night. May it become part of our rhythm as a family. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
