On this episode of Plus One Eric welcomes singer and songwriter Son Little, whose blend of sonic and production styles hits a new level with his latest record “Aloha”, which he calls “aggressive lounge R&B”.
Little talks with Kraz about how Stevie Wonder and Prince were breakthrough influences for him, and the two reminisce about first meeting each other at a recording session with The Roots, who have featured Son Little on multiple albums. Eric and Son have collaborated on other projects since then, most recently the song “Apples” on Kraz’s 2019 record “Telescope”.
After their conversation, Eric and Son Little play a live, stripped-down take on Son's tune "about her. again" that you won't want to miss.

On this episode of Plus One Eric talks to record producer Jeff Bhasker, who has won Grammys for his work with Kanye West, Bruno Mars & Mark Ronson, fun., and more. Eric and Jeff have been friends since college, when he was a jazz-obsessed keyboardist studying all forms of music but without a concept for what he’d make on his own.
Jeff describes how discovering Basquiat and other contemporary visual artists helped shape his own concept as an artist, and why “what’s the concept?” remains an essential question he asks musicians he works with.
Jeff also shares about working with Bruno Mars when Bruno was an 18 year old kid new to LA, and explains how he went from playing keyboard with Kanye West to producing his Grammy-winning records.

On this episode of Plus One Eric talks to keyboardist and frontman Andy Frasco of Andy Frasco & The U.N. After interning with record labels as a teenager and managing bands on his own, Frasco was inspired to teach himself piano and make it as a performer. More than 10 years and 5 albums later, Andy Frasco’s engaging stage presence and the band’s soulful, bluesy rock have made Andy Frasco & The U.N. a fan favorite on the live music and festival circuit.
Andy tells Eric about constantly starting businesses as a kid and how that hustle helps him while making it as an outsider in the music industry. Andy also explains how he’s channelling his restless creative energy while stuck at home, his recent socially distanced concert at Red Rocks, and his process for making dreams come true.

On this episode of Plus One Eric talks to bassist, producer, and TV personality Randy Jackson about his musical upbringing in Louisiana and the many reinventions throughout his career. Steeped in the New Orleans jazz scene and growing up performing with local legends, Randy became a decorated session musician who played with superstars like Aretha Franklin, Bruce Springsteen, and dozens more.
A chance meeting with visionary producer Tom Dowd changed Randy’s whole perspective on popular music and led him into A&R, producing, and eventually to American Idol. A man who knows how to listen to and make hits, Randy currently manages nine writer/producers and a handful of recording artists, all while running his holistic health company Unify Health Labs, and recording an album with Journey.
Randy and Eric discuss all of that plus their favorite guitarists, the power of New Orleans music, and joining forces on a future project.

On this episode of Plus One Eric talks to reggae great Ziggy Marley, whose album “More Family Time” dropped on September 18th. It’s a follow up to Ziggy’s 2009 “Family Time” record which was inspired by his daughter Judah, and the new release features tracks with Ben Harper, Sheryl Crow, Alanis Morissette and many more.
Here Ziggy describes hearing the first homespun versions of songs like “Could You Be Loved” and “Redemption Song”, as well as joining his dad on stage along with his brother Stephen at the One Love concert 40 years ago. Stephen and Ziggy had planned a series of shows in celebration of Bob Marley’s 75th birthday that were postponed until next year, and in the meantime are enjoying a lot “More Family Time”.
Ziggy and Eric also discuss his philanthropic work, the struggle between conscious and commercial music, and where his name really comes from.

In this episode of Plus One Eric talks to his good friend and one of his favorite young artists, singer-songwriter Victoria Canal. Having grown up across three continents and moving every year, from an early age Victoria used songwriting to channel her fears of not fitting in. It’s Canal’s complete comfort in her own skin that lets her trust audiences and be truly vulnerable with them, frequently bringing fans to tears.
Her newest EP, Victoria, released on August 28th, represents a giant step forward for Canal as a writer and producer, and the resulting tracks convey a maturity far beyond her 22 years. Hear Victoria tell Eric why a seaside cliff near Barcelona was the only place to record such a profoundly personal album, and why it feels right to release it during such a difficult year.

In this episode of Plus One Eric welcomes saxophonist and producer Dominic Lalli, the brains behind electronic group Big Gigantic. Lalli’s inventive merging of EDM styles with his jazzy hooks catapulted Big Gigantic to success through monstrous festival sets that won over thousands of new fans by force.
Lalli has had a busy 2020, releasing Big Gigantic’s new album Free Your Mind in February and his first jazz record, A Blind Man’s Blue, in July.
