Since her early years as a Girl Scout, Heather has always sought to make a difference. After graduating college, she served our country with 23 years of distinguished Naval service. Dedicated to self-improvement, she obtained masters degrees in Asian studies, conflict resolution, cyber security policy and emergency management while on active duty. She is qualified as an Associate Emergency Manager (AEM) and is currently working on a PhD in Public Policy and Administration / Emergency Management focusing specifically on childcare recovery.
As a working parent of two, she became aware of just how much of a gap existed in emergency preparedness and recovery training and resources for childcare providers and vowed to use her experiences, education, and more importantly, motivation, to help improve current limitations. Her desire to bridge the gap between emergency management and childcare communities culminated in the founding of BLOCKS, a nonprofit with a mission to help keep our children safe by preparing childcare for disaster. She also founded Train 4 Safety Press and publishes picture books teaching young children what to do in the event of disaster.Links Links linkedin.com/in/heather-beal-aem http://train4safety.com/ http://www.blocksusa.org/early-prepare.html

As a professional tall ship sailor in the U.S. Coast Guard, he learned the intricacies of literally hundreds of moving pieces working together. That experience brought about the formal organization of volunteers around a topsail ketch in Southern California as he became Commodore of Friends of Argus, In his litigation career, with more than 35 years experience as resolution specialist guiding over 4,000 businesses through the litigation process, if a case from his firm was resolvable before trial, it was resolved. Local officials blame at least 38 deaths and many more injuries on the storm, which has inundated parts of the Houston area with more than three feet of rain. In some places, totals surpassed 50 inches, setting a record for the continental United States. And, in Harris County, which includes Houston, up to 30 percent of the land had flooded, according to Jeffrey Lindner, a meteorologist for the Harris County Flood Control District. While the storm began to release Houston from its grip on Wednesday, it continued to wreak havoc east of the city: “Our whole city is underwater,” Derrick Freeman, the mayor of Port Arthur, Texas, said on Facebook early Wednesday. http://www.weather.gov/stormready/ http://www.weather.gov/ https://weather.com/storms/hurricane/news/tropical-storm-harvey-forecast-texas-louisiana-arkansas

William R. Forstchen holds a Ph.D. in History from Purdue University with a specialization in military history. He is the author of over forty books, several of which have been New York Times best sellers. His groundbreaking novel, One Second After, published in 2009, is credited by many with being integral to the start of the “prepper movement” by raising national awareness of the potential threat of an electro-magnetic pulse (EMP) strike. He, along with other experts on terrorism and the military situation in the Middle East, also firmly believes that it is time America took serious note of the threats leveled by ISIS: that we are their next target and that it is not a question of if. It is now a question of when.
