Show notes
This week, Tommy is joined by actor Chase Stokes, who became a household name playing John B, the fearless leader of the Pogues in Netflix’s smash-hit series Outer Banks. With the fifth and final season now out, Chase is saying goodbye to an epic chapter of his life, and he’s opening up about what that goodbye has really meant to him. Chase shares how he’s grieved the end of John B’s story, the defining storyline that helped him better understand his character, and how he wanted John B to evolve over the course of five seasons. He reflects on how much he has changed since Season 1, the one scene he would show someone who has never watched Outer Banks, and his initial reaction to the Blue Crown storyline. He also reveals whether he thinks JJ should have been brought back, why Madison Bailey was a superhero this season, and why he believes John B and Sarah thrived throughout the series. Chase also discusses that burning online rumor and answers if that post-credit wedding party scene was scripted or completely unscripted? He also opens up about his complicated relationship with fame, why the pressure to always be perfect for the world matters less as you get older, the importance of setting boundaries, how his health took a scary hit earlier this year, how he’s feeling today, his ongoing journey of taking care of his mental health, why Season 2 of Outer Banks became such a pivotal moment in his life for his mental health, and so much more. And don’t miss Chase’s mini rapid-fire “Hot Takes & Hangouts” interview, dropping Thursday, September 3!
