Show notes
This week, Tommy is joined by the internationally acclaimed trio Il Volo, made up of Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto, and Gianluca Ginoble. The group reflects on their incredible journey from meeting as teenagers on an Italian singing competition to becoming global ambassadors of bel canto. They share what it was like being brought together unexpectedly, the natural chemistry they felt from their very first performance, and how a shared passion for Italian music and culture shaped their sound. From moving to Los Angeles to record their first album to eventually finding massive international success, the trio opens up about the sacrifices their families made along the way and how those early years still influence who they are today.
The conversation also dives into the evolution of their music and their mission to bring classical Italian sound to a new generation, inspired by legends like Andrea Bocelli and Luciano Pavarotti. They reflect on the impact of their breakout hit “Grande Amore,” their experience performing for world leaders including the Pope, and how their live shows have grown into a more intentional and emotional musical journey. Beyond the stage, Il Volo opens up about discipline, friendship, and what it takes to stay together as a group for over a decade, revealing a deep bond built on respect and shared purpose.
