OMD’s origination in Liverpool parallels the Human League’s in many ways – both started in 1978, both were self-taught, both had an early love of synthesisers, and both had a burning ambition to combine pop with art and futurism. Paul’s ex-partner Claudia Brucken is also one of Martyn’s best friends, and their band OneTwo was also very popular for over a decade.
