The Dallas Cowboys pretty much placed the entire blame of their loss to the 49ers on Dak Prescott…is that fair to him or the team? / Shut Up Sipple (sponsored by Bagels & Joe) Jan 27, 2023

Show notes

-It’s been a story for a few days now, but we want to make sure we address it---the official Twitter account of the Cowboys said, “Dak Prescott gave away the ball twice in the narrow loss to the 49ers, in a matchup the Cowboys had a chance to win if they didn’t again generate self-inflicted wounds”

-The tweet is still up, as they stand by it…as a journalist (Sip) and a coach (Bill), how do you respond to such direct blame for a loss and end of a season?

The Alabama offensive coordinator job is open again with Bill O’Brien heading back to the Patriots…is that the best job in college football? Jan 27, 2023

Show notes

-Think about how that specific position has revitalized careers that were going downward---Lane Kiffin turned it into a head coaching job at FAU and now at Ole Miss; Brian Daboll went back to the NFL and excelled with the Bills and now is head coach of the Giants; and O’Brien is back in the NFL now

-With all the talent that Alabama consistently brings in and Nick Saban still running the show…is it the best coordinator position in college football?

Show notes

-When looking at the first team offense for the NFL, only 2 players were 4-stars out of high school---Tyreek Hill and Zack Martin---and everyone else is a 3-star or lower

-How does a player go from a lower-star level to someone who excels both in college and in the pro level? Is it all effort and determination or just a bad scouting job done on them in high school?

-Also, what does recruiting look like in general in the era of NIL compared to before it?
