    Show notes

-Nebraska got a commitment yesterday from 2024 RB Kewan Lacy, who was also looking at Ole Miss, Arizona State, and Baylor. Lacy ran the 100-meter dash in 10.79 seconds this spring

-There are lots of things that are important in recruiting, but where does speed rank in importance? No. 1 or No. 2? For Bill, how many times do coaches say they can make a player work and to take them because of their speed?

-And, the College World Series wrapped up last night in Omaha….who claimed the title out of LSU and Florida?

One college coach has a simple solution for what he’ll do going forward if his players get poached / Shut Up Sipple (sponsored by Bagels & Joe) Jun 26, 2023
    Show notes

-UAB head coach Trent Dilfer went on the ‘Rick & Bubba Show’ podcast this weekend and said that he has no problem going forward naming names and coaches if he finds any of them poaching his players

-Why wouldn’t this happen already? If coaches are upset about it, why wouldn’t they already have said something publicly about the guilty party?

Should teams be more aggressive on 4th down in college football? Jun 26, 2023
    Show notes

-ESPN’s Bill Connelly wrote this weekend that in looking at Texas Tech’s season last year, they had by far the most 4th down attempts in the country: 52, including going 6 for 8 against Texas in one game

-He writes that on the 52 attempts, Tech converted 33 of them which ended up resulting in 129 points after the conversion; and in the 19 attempts not converted, they allowed only 44 points, for a plus-85 point profit

-What would Bill say about this? He coached defense a lot of places, but what’s his stance on it offensively?

It was a sad weekend for Nebraska football fans, as former Husker RB Dahrran Diedrick passed away at age 44 Jun 26, 2023
    Show notes

-Diedrick had been battling cancer for awhile, and lost the fight over the weekend. The former Husker had 15 rush TDs in 2001 and just shy of 1,300 yards rushing that season before going to the CFL following the 2002 season

-Diedrick is part of Jake’s first ever game he attended at Memorial Stadium, when Nebraska beat Oklahoma, 20-10, in the 2001 season that resulted eventually in a trip to the national championship

-Also, update on the College World Series…did LSU finish it off last night or did Florida force a Game 3?

The Nebraska Board of Regents approved alcohol to be sold at Memorial Stadium for Volleyball Day in Nebraska on August 30th…why not football games? Jun 23, 2023
    Show notes

-The vote passed, 6-2, from the regents, meaning 80,000+ fans will have access to alcohol for the volleyball matches. The Garth Brooks concert in 2021 proved that alcohol sales can happen somewhat smoothly at the stadium

-As Jake has mentioned before, this shouldn’t be any change in stadium design/infrastructure. You don’t need to build in tap lines for beer if you simply do everything in a can. If they do it for volleyball, shouldn’t it be done for football? Big attendance for both…

-Also, update on who is in the finals for the CWS after last night’s LSU/Wake Forest game…
