Caitlin Clark’s record was the most talked about thing this past weekend, but there was a streak broken that is even more impressive elsewhere Mar 05, 2024

Show notes

-Oklahoma softball had its historic 71-game win streak (71!!!!) snapped in a loss at home to Louisiana-Lafayette this weekend. The previous longest win streak in college softball was Arizona, with 47 games in a row between 1996-97

-It was also the Sooners’ first home loss in 4 YEARS…we all know that baseball and softball are games where you can easily have an off game and lose to anyone…but this is ridiculous

-You want a record that probably won’t get broken again? This is probably that.

Can Nebrasketball win their first ever game in the NCAA Tournament and make a run without a legitimate point guard? Mar 05, 2024

Show notes

-Winning on the road has been the biggest question for this Nebraska team, and the next biggest question has been who is running the show at point guard

-Former Michigan head coach Jon Beilein said this week that he loves Nebraska’s team and how they play defense, but it’s hard to see them making a ton of noise without having a true point guard to lead the way

-We brought up how amazing Malik Nowell was for Kansas State in leading them deep in the tournament last year…Nebraska has nothing like that at point guard. Can they really go far without having that role?

Johnny Manziel—in a sad attempt to stay relevant—says he won’t attend the Heisman ceremony until Reggie Bush’s trophy is returned / Shut Up Sipple (sponsored by Bagels & Joe) Mar 04, 2024

Show notes

-The premise of Manziel’s “protest” isn’t a terrible thing—it’s just the fact it’s from him. Manziel failed in the NFL, has been irrelevant mostly since college, and is trying to keep his name out there apparently

-When is the last time anyone ever thought about Manziel? Do you back his protest?

Caitlin Clark is the new all-time leader in NCAA Basketball history…let’s not forgot how incredible Pete Maravich’s record was in the process Mar 04, 2024

Show notes

-Thanks to a pair of free throws at the end of the 1^st half, Caitlin Clark tied and then surpassed the all-time NCAA points record set by Pete Maravich back in 1970. Clark’s impressive run at Iowa has brought a lot of attention to women’s basketball the last few years

-It’s a reminder again that Maravich’s career had no 3-point line and how amazing it would have been if he did

-Also, shoutout to Husker baseball who won the series at previously unbeaten College of Charleston this weekend…big comebacks in the 9^th inning in their wins
