Hard Knocks chose quite possibly the most boring NFL team for its show this year…the New York Giants May 16, 2024

Show notes

-The Giants have very low sizzle nowadays, even though they won a playoff game 2 years ago in a surprise team. Last year, they stunk, and had few players anyone knows…who would want to watch this?

-Also, The NFL announced yesterday that both Christmas Day games will be carried on NetFlix, the first time the service has carried NFL games. At least most shouldn’t have to find a way to get it…one positive

The NFL schedule is out…could college football ever have anything like it of the same magnitude? May 16, 2024

Show notes

-About 10-15 years ago, no one really cared that much about the schedule release; there certainly weren’t 2 hour programs on network TV to cover it like there is now (NFL Network/ESPN)

-College football doesn’t really do anything big like it, mainly because some games are known years ahead of time (non-conference)…so maybe they have no chance of attaining the attention the NFL gets

-Also, welcome to Day 1 of the PGA Championship—the often forgotten major. Tiger is playing, though!

Can a college head coach actually also be in the media without it turning into a full mess? We’re about to find out May 15, 2024

Show notes

-Long-known hot take maker Doug Gottlieb will be the next head coach at Wisconsin-Green Bay in men’s basketball, sources announced yesterday

-The twist here is that Gottlieb will continue doing his daily FOX Sports Radio Show (2-5pm CST, M-F). It would be strange for Bill to be doing our show if he was still coaching at Nebraska or elsewhere—but it would be cool---but as a head coach? Bizarre…right?

-Imagine if Bo Pelini back in the day was doing a 3-hour daily radio show and was the head coach of the football team….ratings gold!
