Special teams was vital to Nebraska’s success last year but it’s not being talked about at all this offseason and Fall camp… Aug 18, 2026

Show notes

-Last year was a good year for special teams in Mike Ekeler’s return to coaching the unit, but he’s moved on to USC---and now we have

legitimate questions on how things will look in all facets of special teams. How do you make the leap to 8-9 wins without special teams being a

huge factor? It probably needs to be a huge part of the team…

-STs coordinator Brett Maher will speak to media today (as well as Geep Wade and Corey Brown) as we get some sort of intel into what things

are looking like in Fall camp….Matt Rhule said the other day that he thinks Jacory Barney is one of the top kick/punt returners in the

country….will it help in game-changing plays?

It’s a tough time to be an Arizona Cardinals football fan---and they feel pretty cursed at the moment with injuries / Shut Up Sipple (sponsored by Bagels & Joe) Aug 18, 2026

Show notes

-The Cardinals are projected to be one of the league’s worst teams again under first year head coach Mike LaFleur, and it’s been a rough start

to Training Camp as all 4 of the team’s first 4 draft picks are dealing with injuries---including 2 believed to be season-ending

-3 rd overall pick Jeremiyah Love has a high ankle sprain and is expected to miss the rest of the preseason with a goal of being back Week 1; 2 nd

round pick Chase Bisontis (guard) has a torn MCL and is out for the season; 3rd round pick Carson Beck is day-to-day with a rib injury; and 4 th

round pick Kaleb Proctor (DT) is out for the season with a torn meniscus. Football!

The AP Poll is out for 2026…which Top 10 team is the most likely to fall out of the rankings? Aug 18, 2026

Show notes

-We see it pretty much every year that a team perceived to be a Top 10 team in the preseason ends up not only outside the Top 10, but

unranked completely: last year, it was LSU; in 2024, it was Michigan and Florida State; in 2023, it was LSU and USC; and in 2022, we saw Texas

A&M, Baylor and Oklahoma all fall out of the rankings at end of season after being Top 10 to start the year

-So, of these teams…which ones are likely to fall out? Ohio State, Oregon, Georgia, Notre Dame, Texas, Indiana, Miami (FL), Texas A&M, Ole

Miss, and Oklahoma….also---for the first time in 18 years---Alabama is NOT a preseason Top 10 team
