Nebraska baseball began it's B1G tournament last night...did they win to set up something to actually play for on Friday? May 21, 2025

Show notes

As pointed out yesterday, if Nebraska lost to Michigan State last night, it meant they still had to play a game on Friday vs. Oregon...though they couldn't advance to the next round if they eventually beat the Ducks.

Beat Michigan and Oregon? Then they're on to the semifinals to avoid any team playing more than 4 total games...

The NBA Conference Finals is here with some surprises...is the lace of 'chalk' intriguing this year? May 20, 2025

Show notes

The seeds of the teams in the conference semifinals are (4) Indiana; (3) New York; (1) OKC, and (6) Minnesota

It’s the 2nd straight conference finals for both the Pacers and the Wolves, and they were the 2 least likely of the 4 teams in the playoffs to make it to those rounds….what is the ideal Finals based on these matchups? Thunder/Knicks?

Could the Big 12 get multiple bids this year in the CFB Playoff? May 20, 2025

Show notes

CBS Sports' Tom Fornelli wrote about the conference yesterday, and points out that no one seems elite but no one is bad--no team has more than 8.5 wins for their projected over/under win total, and no one is below 5.5. wins.

Fornelli writes that QB depth is the key for the conference, and the amount of questions in other conferences could be beneficial for the Big 12 which seems like a strong all-around league...could they get 2 teams in this year?

David Pollack has similar thoughts to Big Noon Kickoff as most B1G fans do / Shut Up Sipple (sponsored by Bagels & Joe) May 20, 2025

Show notes

The former Georgia star and former College Gameday host said on his podcast that the B1G having it’s marquee game of the day at 11am central/12pm eastern is “the dumbest thing he’s ever heard of,” which most of us would agree with

We all know it’s a ratings grab and money grab, but that doesn’t make it suck any less. Are we in this for the long haul?

Nothing is sacred anymore in college football, so why is important to keep the USC/Norte Dame rivalry which potentially could be done soon? May 20, 2025

Show notes

The game we have loved for so long is not the same as it used to be, with many traditions and rivalries going away. One that is still going and is scheduled to go---only through this year for now----is Notre Dame/USC. Notre Dame’s AD, Jack Swarbrick, wants to keep the rivalry going into the future. USC isn’t so sure.

Per SI, the Trojans are committed to going through 2026 when they'd host the Fighting Irish in LA, but beyond that is unknown.
