House of the Dragon (S2E2) Jun 30, 2024

We're talking Rhaenyra the Cruel. More like Rhaenyra the COOL, am I right?
The Blacks need a new publicist and the Greens a therapist in the aftermath of Blood and Cheese. Helaena mourns her baby, while Aegon mourns his legacy and meteorically destroys his past (RIP Viserys' Old Valyria Sims).
We talk parallels: first between Otto, Alicent and Aegon and Tywin, Cersei and Joffrey, then Rhaenyra and Visenya, and lastly, the introduction of several new characters' threads (Hugh, Alyn, Addam, BLOODY BEN) into the tapestry.
New episodes every Sunday!

Book Club: Knotting Hill (Bride by Ali Hazelwood) Jun 25, 2024

Show notes

Send us Fan Mail

We're talking Bride by Ali Hazelwood in the debut episode of The Spicy Girls Book Club! The tropes are troping in Ali's first paranormal romance ... and we are HERE for it.
You: Vampires and Werewolves
Me, an intellect: Vampyre and Weres
Slow-burn romance, arranged marriage, banter, found family, political scheming, fated mates, knotting (which isn't tying your dick in a knot, not that we thought that) and you're never going to guess how many beds there are ...
Is it, especially the cover, a little Wattpad-ish? Sure. But we fucking loved Wattpad and Twilight and WE DON'T CARE WHO KNOWS IT.
Next week: A Fate Inked In Blood by Danielle L. Jensen.

Important new characters — Hugh (the Hammer??), Addam and Alyn of Hull, House Reyne and Dalton Greyjoy — and locations, like the Gullet and Golden Tooth.
Alicent getting her cheeks clapped by Ser Criston "Vow of Celibacy" Cole.

Both Nesta and Az are poised to play major parts in ACOTAR 5, but in which direction(s) will their stories go? And will we finally get main character energy from Elain?
We talk Illyrian lore, Az's lineage and possible connections to Starborn fae and Enalius, the potential for more monsters hidden under the mountains of Prythian, Rhys' beast form and dragons, what really went down between Eris and Mor and, speaking of, could it have been a prince of Hel watching Mor in Frost and Starlight? And who will Nesta throw into a black hole first: Koschei or Rhys?
