**Drop Your Buffs**

Heralded by the Washington Post as being “ostensibly about ‘Survivor’”, in this podcast, veteran fan Sean Ross and quarantine newbie Evan Ross Katz take a very gay deep dive into all things SURVIVOR. With a uniquely queer lens, Drop Your Buffs takes a retrospective look at the greatest seasons, players and iconic moments from the reality show that started it all. Plus, we go straight to the source, interviewing legendary contestants of the game.

But it doesn’t stop there. Evan and Sean also cover SURVIVOR-adjacent television, including THE TRAITORS, THE WHITE LOTUS and …AND JUST LIKE THAT.

Survivor 47, Episode 14 “The Last Stand” Recap Dec 20, 2024

Show notes

In the Drop Your Buffs Survivor 47 finale recap, Sean and Evan celebrated Rachel's win while critiquing the predictable format, the fire-making challenge, and Sue’s underwhelming age reveal. They lamented the absence of early boots like John Lovett from the finale and called for changes in casting and editing to revive Survivor's character-driven magic. The duo praised Rachel's gameplay but highlighted how modern Survivor's strategy-heavy edit leaves winners less memorable. Speculation on Jeff Probst's scent (Caesar salad?) and a call for the wind-and-fire emoji in honor of Teeny’s fire-making struggle kept the recap lively. They explore Kyle’s immunity challenge dominance, his controversial win asterisks, and whether Jeff’s record hype really holds water. Sue’s intense hatred for Kyle becomes a highlight, while Gabe’s bold “I’ll be back” exit stirs questions about his return potential. The duo critique the rice “negotiation” flop, Jeff’s puzzling commentary, and the underwhelming rewards menu (wraps? salad?).
