"Dylan's the Next Bride" with Connor & Dylan MacDowell Mar 06, 2024
    Show notes

Connor and Dylan are having a good ol’ fashioned TWIN TALK! Hot on the heels of Dylan becoming an honest man (getting engaged), he gives the highlights of his surprise engagement weekend in NYC. Of course these two get into their show-going adventures while together in the Big Apple, including return trips to Kimberly Akimbo and Sweeney Todd. They gag for the girls of Akimbo, and once and for all definitely shut down the online chatter around the newest Sweeney and Lovett ;) As Tveitortots and Sluttons, this is not to be missed! Connor cautions the death of the critic when it comes to theatre discourse while they rave about seeing the stunning Merrily We Roll Along revival. Dylan also recaps seeing Spamalot, including what no one is talking about regarding Ethan Slater in the show. They praise Jonathan Groff, Leslie Rodriguez Kritzer, and more icons of the stage in this chat. Trust, we sneak in some Kate Middleton and Paul Mescal curiosities. The rest? You’ll have to listen to Drama+ for it all, dolls!

“That Was a Mess” with Mary Testa Feb 28, 2024
    Show notes

Connor and Dylan are joined by three-time Tony Award nominee Mary Testa (Oklahoma!, Xanadu). After dishing on the recent lab presentation of SMASH, the twins meet the icon herself, and dive into Mary’s fabulous career. She’s done it all, y’all! Mary reflects on her long and wonderful relationship with The Transport Group, especially her cherished leading role in Queen of the Mist. Mary shares memories from working on Marilyn the Musical with Kenny Ortega, learning from Chita Rivera, and the magic of Xanadu alongside Jackie Hoffman. We get into her creative collaborations with Michael John LaChiusa and Graziela Daniele, including Marie Christine, The Gardens of Anuncia, and more. Listen in for a touching story from when Mary’s parents saw her go on for Liza Minnelli in The Rink, as well as insights into her knack for standing up against injustice (particularly in show business). Naturally, we get into Sexy Oklahoma, being directed by Daniel Fish, and the modern unruly audiences at the theater. This trio even chats about Wicked (the movie trailer too), Beyonce’s foray into country, and Mary’s Tiktok addiction. Mary is a truly authentic, distinguished force onstage and off. You’ll be drawn into this episode with this legendary star.

    Show notes

Connor and Dylan are joined by Rebecca Naomi Jones (Oklahoma, American Idiot). Connor and Dylan are joined by Blake Roman (Harmony, Hazbin Hotel). Another week, another AMAZING and harmonious episode with one of the stars of the new musical Harmony, which features original Barry Manilow tunes mixed with the true story of Germany’s Comedian Harmonists. Blake tells us all about his character, Chopin, which songs he loves the most, working with Julie Benko, and why you should go into the show knowing as little as possible. Did we mention there’s an iconic group chat with the six Harmonists? Oh, to be the government agent listening in on THAT. Blake talks about his upbringing on a farm in Erie, PA, the first musical he saw on Broadway, the impact of Next to Normal, and his gap year. But that’s not all. Blake also voices one of the main characters on A24’s Hazbin Hotel, streaming on Amazon Prime on January 19th. We discuss Blake’s original music, Bret Easton Ellis’ novels, Jacob Elordi’s SNL hosting gig, and MORE. You’re going to love this episode, and Blake of course. Go see him in Harmony on Broadway!
