SFR 522: With An Abundance of Caution May 01, 2020
    Show notes

–Last night’s saga of the crashing computer
–Bobby’s kids are afraid to go down in the basement. His daughter is just beginning to get into the paranormal, and he is pumped.
–Jason reminisces a bit about when was “woo” was fun. Ghost stories, UFOs, monsters…it was all better way back when.
–Marking the OKC Bombing and Columbine anniversaries that happened recently, and talking about the first major news story we remember. Bobby’s was the fear of nuclear war over fighting in Iraq. Jason’s was the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster, and seeing his mom cry. Then we hear from the Freqs, and it is like a mini history lesson.
–The Gridlock protests are still going on to a degree, but they feel a little more flat and uninteresting as of late with certain states starting to slowly re-open.
–The sexual assault allegations against Joe Biden by Tara Reade are finally, after more than a month, starting to get more attention. We’re going to continue being as fair and non-partisan as possible as the story develops.

SFR 521: So Very Stimulated Apr 16, 2020
    Show notes

–This show is hanging on by a wire. No, literally. There is a short in the mixing board wiring, and Bobby had to bend it and place another piece of equipment on top of it to keep the connection flowing.
    –How was your Easter?
–It was recently the anniversary of our dear listener, Jeffrick, passing away. We share a couple memories, though neither of us could remember his real name, including the time his wife contacted us to stop our monthly membership charge. Since we don’t charge a membership, we always figured it was his porn fees.
–Bernie endorses Biden, and Bobby is here for it. Jason said it was borderline sad to watch Bernie have to grovel and kiss the ring.
–When should we be opening the economy back up? It’s a question that requires forethought and care, but the people who are eager to get back to work are not crazy.
–Bobby’s kids are bouncing off the walls amidst this lockdown, and Jason remembers he is a genius for not having kids.
–NY Times finally reports on Biden allegations, some 19 days after the story broke. And the reasons given for the delay are complete and total partisan hackery.
–Jason and Bobby take some questions from the audience, and share some creepy stories. First up, Bobby talks about his daughter’s desire to be friends with a ghost. Bobby teaches Mr. Chicago how to summon a shadow person.
–Would we ever want to go to Salem, Mass? Oh, absolutely. And Proctor’s Ledge is one place in particular we want to visit.
–How we plan to be hometown heroes when this is all over.
–Our wish to participate in ghoulish tours has up contemplating taking one involving previous mob activity in downtown Toledo.
–Jason wants people to howl with him at 8pm.
–Bobby says that, in order to save lives, we should focus on the scariest parts of the coronavirus. For instance, how many people have contracted it…how many have died…etc. Jason, usually a cynical bastard, contends that sharing the good news occasionally (ie: how many are recovering) helps alleviate hopelessness and depression, and that most people will still make good decisions.

    SFR 520: Blame Game Apr 09, 2020
    Show notes

–Who is to blame for the coronavirus pandemic in the United States? Many people would say Trump. We think that is far too simplistic. Jason prepared a list, and we go through it, debating and sharing ideas along the way. For instance, how much should we blame China? What blame does Trump deserve? How about the CDC and FDA? And where does impeachment fit into it all?
–Bobby brings up the prospect of a recession, and we talk about how pundits like Bill Maher, and a variety of liberals and progressives were actually rooting for one at one time because it could help defeat Donald Trump. Jason has a question: are they happy now?
–Coronavirus conspiracy time! We go through the list of what we’ve heard lately. It’s the 5G towers! It’s a reaction to the flu shot, so that the government can create a new vaccine that will track people! It’s not even real, it’s just a way to keep the masses controlled like sheep! It’s…it’s…it’s…
–Bernie drops out, and now is getting the fake praise from the establishment types who have hated him for years. Bobby takes his victory lap, since he has been “Ridin’ with Biden” from the beginning.
–We end the show talking about the sexual assault allegations former staffer Tara Reade has levied against Joe Biden, and compare them to those against Brett Kavanaugh. Plus, is it just us, or do people only #BelieveWomen when it’s politically convenient? Turns out it isn’t just us, as one particular #MeToo advocate has demonstrated.

SFR 519: Highway to Hell Mar 31, 2020
    Show notes

–The ongoing threat of coronavirus has Bobby doing a cost/benefit analysis of going to the store.
–Jason has a “mostly fun” prediction as to when this whole coronavirus crap will be over. Perhaps dangerously, he’s trying to get inside Trump’s head!
–Bobby wants to tear his hair out from trying to homeschool his kids
–How have our diets changed from the time we were 8yrs old? Answer: they haven’t.
–Listeners have become concerned. So we explain the feud between Bobby and his archrival Nate Murphy.
–Jason talks about a couple of his bad jobs, and confirms Bobby’s belief that he had once walked home for lunch and never went back.
—Tampa megachurch pastor arrested for violating public health orders. Bobby says this is good, as do a couple of SFR listeners. But an exchange on our Facebook page between Mr. Chicago and Pterodactyl Mike highlights a point of disagreement worth examining.
–Jason says this is one time where the whole world (or at least everyone within the SFR audience) is all experiencing the exact same thing. So we spend some time here checking in on our mental health, as well as that of the listeners, and talk about how we’re dealing with it all.
–Bobby goes on a rant about how much he didn’t care for “Tiger King,” a Netflix docuseries currently sweeping the nation. Jason cackles along, his love of contrarianism fulfilled.
–Quarantine and chill? We close the episode talking about the television shows that are getting us through our extra time at home. Let us know what you’re watching as well!

SFR 518: Love in the Time of Quarantine Mar 23, 2020
    Show notes

–Between work (and thinking he has the coronavirus) Bobby is under a lot of stress.
–Checking in to see how everyone out there under self-isolation is doing physically, as well as mentally.
–Bobby cheers for Biden’s most recent wins, and Jason laments the exit of Tulsi from the race. Meanwhile, our own primary election here in Ohio is delayed until June.
—Oprah was arrested for sex trafficking, with coronavirus being used as cover! Okay, not really. But apparently this is the latest outlandish conspiracy theory being floated by the QAnon crowd.
–Jason speaks about the recent death of a piece of our old ghost hunting equipment. That leads us to remembering the giveaways we would do in the olden days of SFR.
–Will we be getting our coronavirus relief checks? How about our tax returns? We want our bank accounts to look good for just one day!
–What are your thoughts on calling this pandemic the “Chinese virus”? We give our thoughts, and talk about some alternatives.
–Bobby demands you thank him if/when you can find and buy toilet paper again.

    SFR 517: Freakout! Mar 12, 2020
    Show notes

–Bobby has reached freakout mode. Coronavirus is in Ohio. Jason, meanwhile, is cool, calm, and collected. He’s playing the odds, and knows there are things you can do to prevent illness.
—Biden has another big week, and Bernie’s odds of being the Democratic nominee continues to shrink.
–Bernie is vowing to fight on, despite admitting that his argument for electability is losing. This upsetting Bobby to no end.
—Alex Jones is arrested for DWI in Texas, and wouldn’t you know it? There is a conspiracy brewing. Jason thinks he was probably jacked up on his own Infowars supplements.
–The release of Corey Feldman’s sex abuse documentary is a fiasco, but at some have seen it. A previous allegation made about Charlie Sheen is now getting more publicity, and reaction is split.
—Harvey Weinstein received 23 years in prison, and is already back in the hospital. Jason calls it “Incarceritis.” But with another trial in California looming, Harvey’s problems are far from over.

    SFR 516: M-M-M-My Corona (Virus) Mar 10, 2020
    Show notes

–A quick remembrance of nearly 12 years of SFR. As Jason says, “one of (his) favorite things about the show is including (our)friends. One of the worst things has been including our friends.” We then recall our lowest downloaded show with our friend Lou!
–Lots of coronavirus updates since the last time we were together. For instance, we jumped to over 20 deaths in the US. Plus, Bobby makes a prediction about the near future here in Ohio.
–We have gotta do some good old-fashioned skepticism about claims being made regarding coronavirus and natural treatments. For instance, you can’t “boost your immune system.” If you could, it would be very bad.
–Bobby brings people into his prep cellar, and we lament how people panic so quickly at the earliest sign of potential danger.
–Jason lets people in on a couple funny news stories related to the coronavirus. Namely, there’s now coronavirus porn! And miracle healing site closes because of coronavirus fears!
–Bobby is very eager to talk about the big bounce Biden received from Super Tuesday. And, yeah, maybe we pat ourselves on the back from our political prognostication abilities. Y’all better recognize. /sarcasm
–We end the show with Bobby rapid firing a few topics and questions at Jason, with Big J going on an absolute rant long enough to lead both of the boys to forget where we started.

    SFR 515: A Quickie Before Bed Feb 28, 2020
    Show notes

–We’re kicking off a quick show because we’re recording later than usual.
–Bobby starts us off with a new ghost sighting, involving an evening of snow blowing and his late grandfather, that he experienced just earlier today.
–Is there a possibility that Jason and Bobby will be leading ghost tours at a theater in their hometown? We’ll see about that. But hearing some stories, and having some time to check it out for ourselves? That’s a definite probability.
—Coronavirus, and the fear of this new strain, is on the verge of overwhelming Bobby. He is now officially prepping for the worst.
–Is this novel coronavirus going to affect the election?
–Bobby is still gung ho on Biden, while Jason is asking him if it is time to unite around Bernie?
–The Harvey Weinstein verdict, Jason believes, represents a “landmark moment” in celebrity sexual assault cases.
–Jason is all-in on the upcoming Candyman movie coming this June. He recently found out it is not the remake he expected, but instead a sort of spiritual sequel involving some of the same actors and characters.

SFR 514: Monsters Walk Among Us Feb 21, 2020
    Show notes

–With so much going on, nothing captured our attention more than the Democratic debate. We do our best to cover it all. ALso giving thoughts on each of the major remaining candidates from Bernie and Biden, to Bloomberg and Buttigieg, with Klobuchar and Warren rounding them out. Did I get them all in?
–After approximately an hour of that, we move on to a review of the Joker movie that Jason and Bobby each finally saw within the last month.
–We end the show with Bobby talking a bit about his new foster child.

    SFR 513: A Seething Hatred Feb 06, 2020
    Show notes

–We’re miles apart and recording through a snowstorm, running into connection problems along the way. But dammit, we’re going to push through and get this episode in the can!
—Bigfoot in Washington? Apparently Bigfoot is a man in a snowsuit or Carhartt. This video has us wishing for Blobsquatch.
—Iowa caucus debacle has people talking conspiracy. Can you really blame them?
–Bernie is getting screwed from multiple sides, by the Democratic establishment and CNN, but Jason thinks it has actually been helping him.
–Join us as we go on a diatribe about how much Elizabeth Warren disgusts us
–Bobby is very disenchanted with attitudes he sees from his political tribe. Jason thinks that every 4 years the country loses its collective mind.
–The State of the Union had some positive moments, but Bobby ran into trouble trying to get people to acknowledge it.
–Impeachment blew up in the Democrats’ faces, as anyone could see it would. And even more liberal outlets like CNN are dumbfounded at how Trump’s approval rating is going up.
–Stay tuned for the funniest ending in SFR history. Hello? Hello?
