DOUBLE LOVE: COVER GIRLS PART TWO Oct 16, 2025

Show notes

Someone in HR needs to do an intervention at the Flair offices, because this workplace is terrifyingly unprofessional. The twins are still interns at what we're told is the hottest fashion magazine in town, but things aren't working out as they hoped. Liz's (genuinely good!) idea is rejected by Leona, while Jessica's attempts to shoot a fancy portfolio for photographer Quentin are halted by a giant wave. But things are looking up for Todd, who's now dreaming of a model future working with Simone. So far, so normal - if only these people could stop inappropriately kissing each other! Seriously, half the staff of Flair should be on a register and the others should be reported for breaking labour laws. DOUBLE LOVE: COVER GIRLS PART ONE Oct 03, 2025

Show notes

We had low expectations for this trilogy after the vampire drama but Cover Girls turned out to be a lot of fun - albeit with some wildly, unsettlingly inappropriate moments. The twins are doing yet another internship, this time at allegedly hot fashion magazine Flair. Liz is taken under the wing of glamorous editor Leona, while Jessica finds herself doing manual labour for photographer Quentin and tyrannical supermodel Simone - and manages to meet yet another man with no boundaries. Meanwhile Todd is bored out of his mind at his father's company - until he gets a surprising new career opportunity... DOUBLE LOVE: ON THE RUN Sep 18, 2025

Show notes

We're back - with a super thriller from 1988! Yes, we're revisiting the twins' sejourn at the Sweet Valley News, where everyone's obsessed with the trial of mob boss Frank DeLucca. Liz is convinced that someone will step forward and testify against him, while new fellow intern Darcy mocks her faith in human nature. Liz finds solace in heartfelt chats with Eric, a new arrival in Sweet Valley with a penchant for writing poetry, while Jeffrey is off being a camp counsellor. Is this where her "out of sight, out of mind" approach began? When Jessica and Darcy become convinced that Eric is actually a teenager murderer, they're determined to bring him to justice - but how will Liz react when the truth about Eric is revealed? This book becomes spectacularly unhinged in the last act and all we can say is that the Beckwiths didn't move away a moment too soon. DOUBLE LOVE: KISS OF A KILLER PART TWO Sep 04, 2025

Show notes

We're back for the conclusion of the greatest story ever told! Having discovered Jonathan's secret vampire-themed library, not to be confused with Lord Pembroke's secret werewolf-themed library which she discovered in the werewolf trilogy, Liz is convinced that Jessica's new love is a creature of the night. The cops may not believe her, but after spending a day in "cyberspace" Maria sure does - and the rest of the Sweet Valley gang are quickly convinced too! Will Jonathan have to flee a (literal) torch-wielding mob? And if so, will Jessica go with him? All this plus Bruce comes up with the most ridiculous scheme ever, Ned and Alice go out on the razz yet again and Elizabeth does a LOT of shrieking. PI BETA ALPHA: MEET CAITLIN! Aug 28, 2025

Show notes

We don't have a new episode for you this week, but we'll be back next Thursday to find out what happens in part two of Kiss of a Killer! In the meantime, there's someone we'd like to introduce you to... It's a whole new era at Pi Beta Alpha! Part Lila, part Jessica and possibly part Margo, Caitlin's a raven haired beauty at an elite boarding school (the least said about the history of said school the better), where she apparently controls the students through sheer magnetic charisma. What Caitlin wants, Caitlin gets - and now she wants rootin' tootin' newcomer Jed Michaels. In the first part of the first book in the Loving trilogy, Caitlin sets her cunning plans in motion...

DOUBLE LOVE: KISS OF A KILLER PART ONE Aug 14, 2025

Show notes

Good news! Jonathan's manky kip of a house is finally being cleaned. Bad news! The cleaning is being done by our beloved Goth Enid, who doesn't cover herself in glory in this book by (a) doing Jonathan's housework in a pathetic and ill-fated attempt to win his heart and (b) not caring at all about the murder of poor expendable Katrina. Of course, neither does Jessica, who sees Katrina's funeral as an opportunity to "treat herself" to a new outfit (yes, she's in Jonathan's thrall in this book but this is also classic Jessica behaviour). Meanwhile Liz continues to treat poor Todd terribly and the Young Man strikes again... DOUBLE LOVE: DANCE OF DEATH PART TWO Jul 31, 2025

Show notes

The first part of this unhinged book was magnificent, and the second half doesn't disappoint. Get ready for the (sadly brief) triumph of Goth Enid over Jessica, Todd swapping his chinos for black jeans, Liz being repulsed by dyed hair, Joey's inexplicable attempts to introduce her to her own home town, Jessica punching more inanimate objects and Jonathan Cain continuing to be pop culture's least cool and sexy vampire. Plus more than one person being compared to a big cat. DOUBLE LOVE: DANCE OF DEATH PART ONE Jul 17, 2025

Show notes

We don't want to be hyperbolic, but this might be the greatest book ever written. It's got history's least charismatic and sexy vampire! It's got a literally crumbling gothic mansion! It's got Alice and Ned getting pissed at the café theatre! It's got Jessica punching a locker in a fit of rage! It's got Liz being appalled that Todd actually looks kind of hot (we're as surprised as you are)! And best of all, it's got the freak show queen of our hearts, Goth Enid! And we loved every minute of it. DOUBLE LOVE: TALL, DARK AND DEADLY PART TWO Jul 03, 2025

Show notes

This book truly is all killer (literally), no filler! Liz continues to be the world's worst friend, not least because she reacts with hilariously OTT horror to Enid's amazing makeover. Yes, we have reached Enid's goth era, and we are absolutely loving it. We do NOT love Joey, who decides to surprise Liz with... a decorated canoe paddle?! Sadly that is not a euphemism. Meanwhile Jessica literally refuses to take no for an answer as she pursues Jonathan Cain - who's getting up to all sorts in the shadows of Sweet Valley...

DOUBLE LOVE: TALL DARK AND DEADLY PART ONE Jun 20, 2025

Show notes

We’ve all been waiting for this mini-series and we are very happy to announce that it doesn’t disappoint! When Jessica and Lila discover a dead body behind the Dairi Burger, Liz is convinced something wicked this way comes. But Jessica’s more concerned with allegedly hot newcomer Jonathan Cain aka Pob 2: The Revenge. Will her unhinged plan to win his heart succeed? Meanwhile Liz once more proves herself to be the world’s worst friend as she ignores poor Enid in favour of banging on to Maria about Joey who we regret to inform you is hanging around like a bad smell. And to our great joy we meet… the gothic gang. Hell yes.
