Show notes

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Peace. You might have heard us alluding to the homie Chad's tapes on recent episodes, well here's the deal. Out of the blue the dude hit up the Hip Hop hoarder @Large looking to donate his legendary tape collection to @'s Dope Vault. The collection is full of dope tapes that used to get played back in the school days on one of those yellow Sony Sports Walkman's with the latch that flipped over the buttons or on a ghetto blaster wedged between the two front seats of Chad's pops late model Chrysler New Yorker Fifth Avenue (It might have been a Plymouth Diplomat, same damn thing really). This was inevitably going to lead to a mix of some music that could be found on these tapes... and here it is! As a matter of fact the .mp3 rip of DJ Stress' "Homeless Fate" was amongst the tapes. Thanks to the homie Chad for keeping it in the fam and for keeping a brother laced with many a dub back in the day. Vol. 5, # 4: The Dopest Joints! of 2011 Jan 29, 2012

Show notes

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Peace! These are the tracks that left the biggest impressions on us last year. Anything we started working in December was ineligible for 2011 but could be one of the Dopest Joints! of 2012, we'll have to wait and see. When we put together mixes like this it reminds us that Hip Hop is alive and well. If anyone ever tries to tell you Hip Hop's dead tell 'em... "Hip Hop didn't die... you got lazy!" Thanks to all the artists and promoters involved in creating and spreading the music we play for keeping us supplied with good vibes. We've connected with many of the artists on this list but there's no politics involved in their tracks being in the mix. We reach out to artists who we're feeling and there's no shortage of them.
