Why do some people need to sleep more than others? Mar 30, 2024
    Show notes

As the years go by, we're getting less and less sleep. A survey by Chemist4U in2022 found that Brits get just 6 hours and 10 minutes of sleep per night on average.

Economic stress and the overwhelming demands of modern life have been blamed for this, but there’s no real evidence to back that up. Still the fact remains that not getting enough sleep can significantly impact our daily lives, so it’s a source of real frustration.

Doesn’t everyone need eight hours then? Does our sleep pattern change as we age? Can someone be naturally inclined to be a morning person or a night owl? In under 3 minutes, we answer your questions!

Why are young people going back to flip phones? Mar 28, 2024
    Show notes

Flip phones or ‘dumb’ phones as they are sometimes called are making a comeback but you might be surprised to know that it's gen Z, in other words people born between 1997 and 2010 and not your grandparents who are buying them.

Well unlike smartphones, the dumb phone can only make phone calls or send text messages and with only twelve buttons and no predictive text dumbphone users get straight to the point. People like them because of their vintage appeal, but above all it meets a need to disconnect. At a time when we're constantly on our smartphones, the return to basic dumbphone functions seems to offer a breath of fresh air and a well-deserved break in our hyper-connected world.

Why do they like them? Why does this appeal specifically to Generation Z? So what is the effect of using a dumbphone? Can it compete with smartphones? In under 3 minutes, we answer your questions!

Why did Tiktok ban the "legging legs" trend ? Mar 27, 2024
    Show notes

Social media just can't seem to shake off its obsession with thinness! Despite knowing that what we see online isn't always real, it still manages to mess with our heads. Early 2024 saw a huge fuss over the controversial "legging legs" trend, especially on TikTok.

Well, believe it or not, leggings, which often get a bad rap, are making a comeback, but for all the wrong reasons. Loads of videos emerged showing young women with super skinny legs in leggings, and actually talking up their thinness. The trend went viral and some of those videos racked up millions of views.

What's it all about then ? Why is it such a big deal ? What’s the reaction been to the legging legs trend ? In under 3 minutes, we answer your questions!

What are the strangest reactions caused by an orgasm ? Mar 27, 2024
    Show notes

Having an orgasm triggers a cascade of physiological responses, including the tightening of muscles in the pelvic and genital regions, and the release of various hormones and neurotransmitters. It sets the heart racing, ramps up breathing, and sends blood rushing to the penis or clitoris, causing them to become erect.

Of course reaching orgasm isn’t guaranteed. Before it happens, there's typically a sequence of desire, arousal, and plateau. An orgasm is marked by intense muscular contractions in the genital area and a profound sense of pleasure. Sometimes, this climax can lead to intriguing reactions.

What's behind the pleasure of an orgasm then? What other reactions are possible? What about spasms or tremors?

In under 3 minutes, we answer your questions!

What is hobby dating? Mar 26, 2024
    Show notes

Perhaps you've already experienced that awkward feeling on a first date when you don't really know what to say to each other. Having a drink or going to a restaurant are great activities, but they don't always add much to the conversation. So, if you run out of questions you are often just left staring into each other's eyes and hoping for an opportunity to arise so that you might make a quick getaway! But this might be soon a thing of the past with the rise of the ‘hobby date’ in other words a date organized around an activity.

The idea is to introduce your date to something you already enjoy and sharing the experience together. This can take completely different forms, depending on each person's tastes. It might be a cultural outing to a museum, a hike in nature, an arts and crafts class or even cookery lesson. The idea is to choose an activity that you love or are curious about and then invite your partner to take part in it with you.

What does this involve? Didn't this already exist before? Do the same activities often stand out? In under 3 minutes, we answer your questions!

As the sun sets on this rainy Sunday evening, reality sinks in. You didn't quite muster the energy to venture out, and now it's back to the grindstone. Tomorrow's Monday, signalling the return to work, and with it, a familiar wave of anxiety known as Monday morning syndrome, or the Monday blues.

It's not officially recognised by the medical community, but many people identify with those feelings. A study conducted by Korean researchers in 2010 found that levels of stress hormone cortisol are at their highest on Mondays and Tuesdays, adding weight to the connection. But fear not, battling this weekly struggle isn't as daunting as it seems.

Where can I start in shaking off those Monday blues then ? What are the best ways to bounce back swiftly ? What if I’m still feeling stuck after that ? In under 3 minutes, we answer your questions!
