Owen Newkirk is joined by Sean Shapiro and Robert Tiffin of StarsThoughts.com to break down Robert’s latest deep-dive piece, “The Founder’s Choice,” which explores the Stars’ salary cap situation — not just at the upcoming trade deadline, but for the next several seasons.
The conversation dives into the biggest domino of all: Robertson’s next contract. How much will he command? Could arbitration drag things out? What happens if negotiations stall? And how does his extension impact Tyler Seguin’s LTIR situation, Maverick Bourque and Nils Lundkvist’s futures, and the team’s long-term flexibility?
From “choose your own adventure” cap scenarios to the very real possibility that other teams could circle if things get complicated, this episode unpacks how one decision could reshape the Stars’ roster construction for years.
Is Robertson locked in as a franchise pillar — or is there a world where Dallas has to consider something drastic?
If you care about the Stars’ Cup window, this is the cap conversation you need to hear.
