In this episode of Diving in Deep, recording artist Sara Evans recounts an event that nearly ended her life. Eight-year-old Sara, while living on her family farm in rural Missouri, took her motorcycle down the long driveway to get the mail. She passed the pond, which was against the Evans' rule for the children, but she vowed to herself to be careful. Looking both ways, she heard a car off in the distance, but she was certain she could make it across the highway. The last thing she remembers is seeing the color blue, which she later found was the car that hit her. She was thrown 90 feet, and everyone on the scene though she was dead. She awoke in the hospital after being comatose for three days and had to have multiple surgeries in the weeks to follow. Sara does not shy away from how much impact that day had on her life, and she digs in to how it still affects her now. As a mother to three children herself, Sara recalls these moments with an added weight on her heart. Being a parent means letting a piece of your soul live outside of your body, always vulnerable. It's in these moments that Sara remembers the importance of humility and emphasizes how leaving her ego at the door is what gets her through the ever-changing role of being a parent. Watch/Listen to Diving in Deep with Sara Evans while she tells the stories of some of the scariest and lowest points in her life that pushed her to be as strong as she is today. Raw. Reflective. Show notes

Friend of 20 years, previous "Fan Club President" and current confidant, Craig Dunn, joins Sara on this week's episode of Diving in Deep. The two share how it's only fitting that Dunn started by running Sara's Fan Club and website and is now her current manager. In this episode, they talk about how they met through Sara's ex-husband, who was an aspiring politician at the time. The breaking point of Sara's first marriage and the traumatic divorce that followed, was ultimately the event that bonded her and Dunn together. They also recap the experience of Sara starring on the hit ABC show, Dancing With the Stars (2006), as a new mother and how Dunn was there to support her through it all. Sara and Craig share how their affinity for one another has built trust and a life-long friendship.
