Episode119: Our Liguria to Admire (ft Eti Emokpae) Jul 12, 2020
    Show notes

The boys are joined by sommelier Etinosa Emokpae to discuss Ligurian wines, hand tattoos, erotic television, and mostly music from our youth. Honestly, we could have cut 45 minutes of this but we are in love with you. If you are in Philadelphia, please visit her at Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and if you aren't (and the pandemic is over) please go visit her there. Also, PLEASE check her classes out at BespokeSocialClub.com. We jokingly call them our sponsor but they aren't in fact we owe them money. ////LIST////

Episode 118: Venting about The Veneto (ft Kilolo Strobert) Jul 06, 2020
    Show notes

The boys are joined by Kilolo Strobert of Get Comfy with Wine to talk about the Veneto, hot blooded Italian men, bagel controversies, and oddly enough, chardonnay. I guess this is the first actual "Italian" episode on this dumb season - and holy shit are all the wines rad. If you've been sleeping on the Veneto, wake the fuck up. We had a lot of fun here folks, sorry (not sorry) it went long. Please follow Kilolo on the gram -- she's been doing awesome insta lives on representation in the wine industry and watch out for Getting Comfy with Wine's the instant we're allowed to do classes again. ////List////

Episode 117: Last Night Alto Adige Saved My Life (ft. Rafa Garcia Febles) Jun 28, 2020
    Show notes

The boys are joined by Sommelier Rafa Garcia Febles of le Crocodile to chat about dad rock, movies, the concept of nation states and, of course Alto Adige. It's a classic wild boys episode that is really going to test your tolerance for crocodile puns, extended metaphors and Amstel light propaganda. Please visit Rafa at Le Crocodile to have a socially distant drink, please tip outrageously, and please wear your fucking masks so we can have him on without a fucking ouija board. Also: tag bottles you drink if you're lucky enough to be drinking wine : #bottlesforblm. ///list////

EPisode 116: Methinks Valle D'Aosta Protest Too Much (ft. Tira Johnson) Jun 22, 2020
    Show notes

The boys welcome Tira Johnson, one of America’s best and youngest sommeliers to discuss the Val D’Aoste, which we pronounce nearly 700 million different ways in this, the first episode of Season 10, which, may I remind you, is ACTUALLY ABOUT WINE AGAIN. It’s a rollicking discussion of Italy’s smallest wine region about the politics of cooperatives, demon labor disputes and whether or not this counts as a date. More importantly, the boys get to discuss Tira’s new business venture, Bespoke Social Club, which is a fantastic way to keep sommeliers employed during the Covid crisis so they don’t become supervillains. More More More importantly, please continue to tithe to #BottlesforBLM, which is a great way to turn your monstrous narcissism into tangible aid for people who are protesting, victims of the state or in perilous situations. ///

Episode 115: Postcards from Italy Jun 15, 2020
    Show notes

Hellllllo new listeners! This is an example of what we normally do here, on Disgorgeous, the foremost social justice wine podcast of the end of the world. First episode with the boys in a while, and wouldn't you know it, they've forgotten how to do podcasts. A new season is announced after about half a bottle of wine, so I guess we're having a new season: welcome to Italy. Please continue to post #bottlesforblm and especially consider having your donations support Black Trans focused organizations. If you are able, please continue marching and demanding change. A better world is possible it’s just a fuckton of work and you all are doing amazingly. ///LIST////

    Episode 114: Representation matters 2 Jun 05, 2020
    Show notes

Today's episode is a panel discussion on race and racism within the hospitality industry. It was facilitated by Jirka Jireh and features Bianca Sanon, a sommmelier in Miami, Etinosa Emokpae, a sommelier in Philadelphia, Imane Hanine, a wine educator in Napa, and LaShea Delaney, a writer and wine rep in Los Angeles. Please respect their boundaries and not dm them to request more labor or to unpack your role in the system. Feel free to DM us if you want book recs or resources.
If you are listening to this episode, please consider making a donation to your local bail fund or to Act Blue to split your donation among many. Please also donate to reclaim the block. We will continue to highlight other funds that should receive money on our Instagram, so if you've already hit these up, check it out.
Finally - if you're marching, you're the best. Thank you for fighting. A better world is possible, but it sure won't be easy.

Episode 113: Canada Dry (ft. The Grape Witches) Jun 01, 2020
    Show notes

It should be noted that this episode was recorded two weeks ago, before the horrifying actions of our police state unfolded across North American this weekend. It's our hope that this light hearted chat, with the enormously charismatic and wonderful Grape Witches, could be consumed as a momentary respite from the horrors of the world around us, much as re-watching the Matrix while eating cookies and ice cream just was for the Dumb One, or at a later date when you have the mental space to hear us argue about utterly unimportant things.
If you choose to consume this podcast this week, we do hope it brings you some moments of joy, but please, once you are done, continue to help the movement in any way you can, donate if you have the means, be an amplifier of voices of people of color, and whatever you do please do not remain silent if you are a person of privilege, silence is violence.
The point in this episode was to talk about Grenache, and I suppose we did.
We love you, be safe, give them hell, please let us know if you need anything.

Episode 112: Comfort Wine for These Trying Times (ft. Lillian DeVane and Kelly Sullivan from FOH Pod) May 24, 2020
    Show notes

The boys are joined by the incandescent ladies of Front of House Pod to discuss the "future" of "restaurants," and to also drink a lot of wine very quickly and yell. This is full chaos mode kids, please understand the raw power unleashed. Technically we discuss wine a little too, but honestly, mostly tea. Please remember that what you miss about restaurants are the people who work there. Donate to the Service Worker's Coalition and listen to their podcast - it's praxis. ///List///

Episode 111: Zine-o Noir (ft. Miguel de Leon and Claudia Leung of Disgorgeous Zine) May 18, 2020
    Show notes

I met a traveller from an antique land,

Who said—“Two vast and trunkless legs of stone

Stand in the desert. . . . Near them, on the sand,

Half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown,

And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,

Tell that its sculptor well those passions read

Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,

    The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed;

And on the pedestal, these words appear:

    My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings;

Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!

Nothing beside remains. Round the decay

Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare

The lone and level sands stretch far away.”

Episode 110: Rosé in the time of Coronavirus (ft. Danielle Shehab of Forlorn Hope) May 11, 2020
    Show notes

The boys welcome Danielle Shehab, who is a really bad influence, to discuss wine, I guess. This one degenerated quickly, folks. I think Duck was having *a day* and we started talking about Epstein around minute 1. Many secrets are revealed, including some dark truth about h*rses and predictions for rosé season. Please buy wines from Forlorn Hope and support Danielle's new project, Shehab wines. Have rosé, literally bitch. You deserve it. We did not edit. ////LIST////
