Development Hell

For every horror title to hit V.O.D … there are countless others that end up D.O.A. DEVELOPMENT HELL is the podcast dedicated to unearthing these cursed horror productions, to find out what went wrong, and decide if they still stand a shot at the green light.

Hosted, created and produced by Dread Central Editorial Director Josh Korngut, the show explores infamous unmade projects like Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian, Halloween 3D, and Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash, alongside deep-dive conversations with some of the genre’s most influential voices. Guests have included Elvira, Peaches Christ, Radio Silence, Grady Hendrix, Simon Barrett, Patrick Melton, Marcus Dunstan, and Robert Englund.

Named one of Variety’s Top 12 Podcasts for Horror Fans and ranked #5 on MovieWeb’s Best Horror Podcasts list, DEVELOPMENT HELL consistently lands in the Top 5 of Apple Podcasts’ Film History charts across the U.S., Canada, and the U.K.

2: HELLRAISER REBOOT (with Teddy Tenenbaum) Apr 06, 2021

Show notes

On this episode of the Development Hell podcast, Hollywood screenwriter Teddy Tenenbaum talks about writing a 2014 HELLRAISER project for Dimension Films. Teddy dishes the dirt on what it takes to get a horror movie made, his unlikely first encounter with Guillermo Del Toro, and what it was like working with Clive Barker on a television series about Ed and Lorraine Warren. Teddy also gets into the details about the plot behind his HELLRAISER concept (it’s wild), what it was like being shaded by Bob Weinstein, and when Dimension Films pitted his script against another written by Clive Barker himself. No tears please… even though this HELLRAISER project sounds like it would have been cool as all hell.
