Sunglasses are synonymous with San Diego. We had to get the inside scoop on a local sunglass company that has been producing sunnies for over 15 years! This week we sit down with the founder and CEO of Knockaround Sunglasses, Adam Moyer. Adam talks about the inception of Knockaround when he was just 23 years old in grad school for art. He explains how he wanted Knockaround sunglasses to be both fun and durable, yet also provide consumers high-quality sunglasses that won't break the bank. Adam also shares his passion for giving back to the San Diego community by donating products to local firefighters and asking local elementary students to design a pair of sunglasses. The Man, the Myth...the Lager Legend. This week we had the chance to chat with Puesto Head Brewer, Doug Hasker! Doug has been in the beer industry for 31 years! Doug's interest in brewing was fostered by his dad and eventually turned into a career brewing for Gordon Biersch. Doug shares some of the knowledge he's gained over the years and tells us about how he became known as a master of the lager style. Now brewing for Puesto, Doug and his brewing assistant, Jacob Bosh, brew complex and delicate beers. Doug and Josh won a 2021 Great American Beer Fest Silver medal for dark lager, "Negra"! San Diego Homebrew Summer Aug 31, 2021

At Ballast Point, our roots stem from the love of homebrewing. This year we had the opportunity to sponsor the annual San Diego Homebrew Brew Summer! Twelve local breweries shared a beer recipe that homebrewers could make at home and homebrewers sent out recipes for breweries to replicate. To get some insight into the Homebrew Summer series we sat down with the founder of San Diego Beer News, Brandon Hernandez; Five Suits Brewing owner, Nick Corona; and Quaff member, Jared Rowley. Brandon describes the thought process behind creating this inclusive experience. Nick talks about his love for collaboration with others in the beer industry and his experience recreating one of the Homebrew Summer homebrewer's recipes. Jared, one of the homebrewers whose recipe was recreated, explains the excitement of being nominated and the wonderful experience he had working with local professional brewers and homebrewers.
