Stuff to Get Rid of Now: Debated Sep 19, 2018

Show notes

To keep or not to keep ... that is the question!

There is a price to pay for sentimentality, but what if all your stuff is really worth something one day?

Today we debate the "keepers" - and what can/should be given away.
Bottom line ~ it is a subjective issue. We give you our views and want to hear yours. Send an email with your thoughts!

One thing we can probably all agree on is that we ALL have too much stuff.

Where does the stuff you have rank in importance on the sentimentality scale and/or objective value scale? We weigh in on all of it, from china to toys ~ with lots of laughs in the mix.

Decorating With Vaulted Ceilings Sep 17, 2018

Why and How to Hire A Designer Sep 12, 2018

Show notes

If you listen to Decorating Tips & Tricks YOU ARE A DESIGNER!

Even great designers need some extra help sometimes. If you find yourself in need of some help with your overall project, specific advice on decorating choices or simply another opinion on your space, you may decide to hire a decorator.

Listen in for all our thoughts on this topic. Here are 7 questions we think you should ask anyone you are considering hiring for the all important job of your designer.

How do you decide what projects are a good fit for you?

Do you welcome client involvement, or do you prefer clients to be hands off?

What elements define your own style and where do you find inspiration?

What do you find most challenging about designing a home?

What is your project management style?

Give an example of a design mistake you made & how you handled it?

How do you prioritize a design project?

These are fair questions to ask a potential design hire. If answered honestly these questions will give you real insight into the person's style and how they handle a project. With that knowledge you can decide if you want to work with them on what is a very personal project ~ your home.

Thinking of being your own general contractor and/or designer? If so this is a good read for you. Click HERE

Eco Friendly Design and Decor Sep 10, 2018

Show notes

Today's episode is all about making your home eco-friendly. It's all about being friendly to the environment and to yourself. Use products that are energy efficient and also consider minimizing toxins in your home. It's all good.

We had some technical difficulties with this episode, so we apologize for the poor quality.

When buying furniture, think about buying products that are made from sustainable wood. Avoid carpet that off-gases for a long time.

We also suggest using natural fibers in your home and avoiding plastics and synthetics.

Think about the cleaning products you use and candles. Are they releasing toxins in the air you breathe?
