Trauma, Grief, Lucid Dreams, and Forgiveness (#23) Nov 11, 2020
    Show notes

Today's guest shares three unique and entertaining stories about how death has impacted his life through the loss of three different people. He discusses his evolved belief system and how these deaths (or, haven't) effected those beliefs, a lucid dream experience where his grandfather came to him and we even jump into psychedelics. We had plenty of laughs through all of this despite plenty of deep conversations. In the second half of this episode Garrett shares a very personal traumatic event in his life that has nothing to do with death. Came as a big surprise and his explanation of healing and forgiveness is one we all could take note of.

DEAD Talks with David Ferrugio engages death a little bit differently. Each new guest shares their experience with grieving or perspective on death in a way that shatters the “don’t talk about death” taboo. Grief doesn't end, it evolves. Having lost his father on September 11th when he was 12 he learned the importance of discussion and sharing other people's stories. Grief, loss, death, mourning, trauma or whatever it may be, DEAD Talks Podcast hopes to make it a little easier to talk about. You may cry; but, you also may laugh.

How do multiple losses shape the way we see life and death? In this episode, we hear the powerful and often surprising journey of Garrett Schecher, who shares how the deaths of three loved ones—and a deeply personal trauma unrelated to death—transformed his outlook on healing and forgiveness.

This raw yet entertaining conversation explores:

    • How losing multiple people reshaped Garrett’s belief system
    • A lucid dream experience where his grandfather came to him
    • The role of psychedelics in grief, healing, and self-discovery
    • How forgiveness can be one of the most powerful tools for moving forward

With humor woven through heavy topics, this episode is both thought-provoking and unexpectedly uplifting—reminding us that even in trauma, there can be wisdom and growth.
