DawgmanRadio: The top prospects speak on Pro Day Mar 30, 2021
    Show notes

Because the NFL Scouting Combine was canceled, that just heightened the stakes for what took place at the Dempsey Indoor Facility Tuesday during NFL Pro Day.

Twelve pro hopefuls took part in testing and position workouts from three different classes, but all eyes were focused on four players from the 2020 class: Keith Taylor, Levi Onwuzurike, Joe Tryon, and Elijah Molden.

Dawgman.com was part of the media group that was able to talk to all four former Huskies after their Pro Day workouts, and you can hear what they thought of their days, as well as who they’ve been talking to and the work they’ve put in to get to this point.

DawgmanRadio: Plenty of Hoops and Pro Day Talk Mar 25, 2021
    Show notes

Kim Grinolds and Chris Fetters of Dawgman.com have been monitoring the revolving door that has recently become Washington’s basketball program, with players and coaches both coming and going. And it’s not going to stop any time soon as a major overhaul continues to take place.

To start, they focus on the departures. Former assistant Cameron Dollar, as well as players Erik Stevenson and Marcus Tsohonis, have declared their intent to move on to new challenges after playing their part in UW’s 5-21 season.

And when one player moves on, another comes to take their place. And in this case, Washington is already seeing new faces emerge to help with their 2021-2022 season. Nigeria’s Samuel Ariyibi is the latest to verbally commit to the Huskies, and he’s simply the latest in a long line of players from that region to try and make a splash in the Pac-12, including Washington State’s Efe Abogidi and Oregon State’s Warith Alatishe.

They also talk about other players, especially ones with local ties like Terrell Brown, Tari Eason, and Emmitt Matthews, who have entered the transfer portal and could become UW targets for a return to the 206.

After a quick break to pay some bills, Grinolds and Fetters move on to the Washington football program and what’s on the horizon, namely UW’s Pro Day. It will be held this coming Wednesday at the Dempsey Indoor Facility, and Grinolds will be on hand to offer his first-hand perspective, while Fetters and Scott Eklund will be monitoring the NFL Network’s telecast of the event, as well as the post-workout interviews with players like Levi Onwuzurike, Elijah Molden, Keith Taylor, and Joe Tryon.

DawgmanRadio: What went wrong with UW Hoops? Mar 18, 2021
    Show notes

It was historic, but for all the wrong reasons. Dawgman.com’s Chris Fetters and Aaron Beach take a deep dive into the problems that plagued Washington’s 2020-21 men’s basketball season, on both ends of the floor.

In part one, they autopsy the season from start to finish, how the schedule they ended up playing due to the pandemic got them off on the wrong foot, how the zone proved to be ill-suited for the players Mike Hopkins and his staff had at their disposal, and ultimately what caused them to win only five games all year, the lowest number of wins in a UW season since 1994.

After a quick break, Fetters and Beach delve into the returners for this coming season, and how the roster could be constructed using the returners. Who makes up the starting five? Who comes off the bench? How will newcomer Jackson Grant be used?

Beach also gives his thoughts on the transfer portal, who UW has already reached out to, and the number of players he expects to leave Montlake from the current group in the coming weeks.

After our last break, we salute former UW assistant coach Cameron Dollar as he takes off for his next endeavor, which is the Dollar Youth Initiative, a non-profit organization designed to help young people grow, especially those in disadvantaged communities.

With Dollar’s departure, how does Beach see Hopkins revamping the rest of his staff during the offseason? And could there be additional staff brought on to specifically deal with recruiting?

What can you really say about a team that went 3-1 over an entire season? When it comes to gauging the Washinton Huskies, perhaps it's better to start at their most well-known asset, freshman QB Sam Huard.

POST-GAME: Mike Hopkins and Jamal Bey talk after Pac-12 Tournament loss to Utah Mar 11, 2021
    Show notes

Washington Head Coach Mike Hopkins and guard Jamal Bey spoke to the media Wednesday night after the Huskies lost 98-95 to Utah in round one of the Pac-12 Tournament.

Quade Green scored a career-high 31 points for the Huskies in the loss, while Bey added 18, Erik Stevenson 14, and Nate Roberts 10.

DawgmanRadio: Wrapping up the latest UW news Mar 09, 2021
    Show notes

The guys from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds, Scott Eklund, and Chris Fetters - dig into the main storylines of the last week, and there are a few.

To start, Kim and Chris previewed Wednesday’s Pac-12 Tournament game between Washington and Utah, with the winner set to play USC the next game. The UW-Utah game will be shown on the Pac-12 Networks at 4 pm PT.

Talk moved to the de-commitments of Sir Mells and Anthony Jones, and the prospects of both committing back to the Huskies when it’s all said and done. A lot of movement could happen with a number of UW targets for the 2022 and 2023 classes once the moratorium is lifted at the end of May, allowing prospects to officially or unofficially visit college campuses. We know it’s going to have bearing with a top 2021 prospect like J.T. Tuimoloau, and many 2022 top PSA’s are already making decisions like Mells and Jones.

How will the Washington recruiting staff approach June? Will they go all out to try and get prospects on campus, especially with the ever-looming threat that things could shut right back down due to the coronavirus pandemic, or will they wait until the summer to try and really show the love if allowed to run their Rising Stars camps?

Before the break, the three talk about Washington’s two new transfers, former Texas Tech WR Ja'Lynn Polk, and Texas A&M DE Jeremiah Martin. They are now on Washington’s official roster, set to take part in spring football. How will they fit in?

After a quick break, the Dawgman guys delve into a couple of high-profile transfers, both former Huskies. Puka Nacua made the decision a few days ago to leave Washington and Monday made official his move to BYU, where he will join older brother Samson, who transferred from Utah.

The next one is the saga of Ale Kaho. Kaho originally signed with Washington, only to eventually end up at Alabama. He then went into the portal recently, only to publicly commit to Utah and then back off that commitment. This week he announced his intention to enroll at UCLA. Is that the end of the news, or is there another twist in the tail?

Finally, the three dig into what to expect from spring football, which is set to begin in earnest on April 7. Obviously, Sam Huard will have a microscope on him at all times, but as much for the idea of going straight from playing high school games with Kennedy Catholic to then competing for the starting quarterback job at UW. It’s never happened before, for obvious reasons. How will he fare?

DawgmanRadio: Schedule Talk! Mar 02, 2021
    Show notes

Tuesday marked the day the Pac-12 announced the full football schedule, so Chris Fetters and Scott Eklund of Dawgman.com break it all down, starting first with Washington’s 2021 schedule.

Here's a reminder that Dawgman.com is running arguably their best promotion of the year, and there are less than 36 hours to take advantage of this screaming deal! It’s 50 percent off a yearly subscription, and we’ll throw in CBS All-Access at no additional charge!

The timing of the offer is important, because CBS All-Access becomes Paramount Plus on March 4, just hours after the promotion expires. So if you’ve ever been even slightly curious about what Dawgman has to offer, you can get a membership now at half off that will take you through the recruiting signing period for NEXT season. It’s a steal of a deal.
