1037: Special Christians vs. Faithful Christians // Spiritual Lessons from Black & White America 29 (Leslie Ludy) Sep 06, 2023

Show notes

Leslie Ludy is the special guest for this twenty-ninth installment in Eric Ludy’s epic summer series covering the contentious and war-torn season of American history from 1914 to 1974. In this episode, Leslie revisits two amazing stories from Christian history in the 1950’s—the five missionaries killed in Ecuador and David Wilkerson’s impact upon the gangs in inner-city New York. Through these reflections on God’s world-changing work through ordinary men and women, Leslie reminds us that there are no “special Christians”, only faithful Christians. We don’t need special qualifications to bear eternal fruit through our lives. We only need a heart fully surrendered to Jesus Christ, and faith in a mighty, faithful God.

The name El Elyon (God Most High) bespeaks of God’s “highness” and the fact there is none like Him. In this study, Nathan examines the beauty of El Elyon and how we—like Satan—attempt to put ourselves in God’s “most high” position. He also gives three practical ways that affect our daily lives when we allow Jesus Christ to be our Most High God.

1031: El Ro’i (The God Who Sees Me) // Behold Our God 19 (Nathan Johnson) Aug 29, 2023

Show notes

God doesn’t merely see all things … He sees me personally. This profound truth becomes clear in Hagar’s encounter with the Living God in Genesis 16, giving Him the name El Ro’i (The God Who Sees Me). While insignificant and mistreated, this name reminds us that God sees even the lowest and insignificant individual. In this study, Nathan examines this incredible name of God in light of Hebrews 4 and Psalm 139 and suggests that the question is not so much “does God see me?” as much as “do I want Him to see me?”
