Swearenger Cut Reveals Depths of Fanbase Mistrust Dec 26, 2018

Show notes

What's the saying... "damned if they do... damned if they don't?" I think the Redskins did the RIGHT thing in letting a fake "leader" go after repeated warnings to keep things "in-house." But sadly, Redskins fans deep and abiding hatred and mistrust of the organization's suits, that they have somehow made this guy into a martyr. Amazing. LeBron James and his turbulent week on social media. Czabe's two tech toys from Santa. A nerdy guilty pleasure, and a hard life lesson in criminology.

Show notes

If you ever wanted to know the brief, and un-official history of my family's Christmases through the years... boy have you come to the right place! I hope you had as many wonderful boyhood memories as I did, and loving parents like mine. A happy childhood is a gift that lasts forever. I will always be grateful for mine!

"Just Not Good Enough" Dec 24, 2018

Show notes

When the head coach says that phrase, it would behoove the entire organization to believe it. Many Redskins loss are hare-brained. Some are comical. Some, shameful. A rare breed is the TRUE "heartbreaker" like this one was. A masterfully executed gameplan, which came undone at the very end. Pity.

"That Leadership Stuff, It's All Overrated" Dec 20, 2018

Show notes

Those were the famous words of one Jeff George when he was the starting QB for the Washington Redskins, circa 2000. Of course, for HIM, leadership wasn't over-rated. He needed to show some of it, if nothing more than to dilute his earned rep as an aloof mullet wearing slinger. Aaron Rodgers, however, doesn't need to prove anything. Which is why him playing anymore this year, is madness. But.... looks like the madness is going to happen. There's a big announcement buried in this episode, plus a little "easter egg" of a hint. Don't say I didn't tip you off!

The "Best of the Reporters" reunion brought two perennial "3rd mic heavyweights" out to dinner at DC Prime in Ashburn this week: Chris Knoche and Thom Loverro. Andy and I reminisce with the guys about classic show moments, talk about the current state of sports team ownership in DC sports, and also dispense some helpful advice for anyone looking to break into "the biz."

"He's Not Our Franchise QB, He's Our *Other* QB" Dec 18, 2018

Show notes

Maybe NFL teams need to re-think what's going on Baltimore, and where the Lamar Jackson experience may end up. So what if it "can't last?" I'd argue the Ravens have already gotten nearly fair value for a late 1st rounder spent on Action Jackson. Notorious JAY joins me and discusses southern rap, rims, how Antoine Walker got so fat, and more. All that, plus what Mike McCarthy taught us about what needs to be done with Aaron Rodgers.

"Like A Rec League Flag Football Game" Dec 17, 2018

Show notes

So what if it was ugly, the Redskins won. Right? Would you rather LOSE a horseshit awful football game? Nah. Might as well win these. And while I'm on it, how god-awful was Blake Bortles that the Jags would rather burn with Cody Kessler under center? The Packers are officially moved in to "suck town" with back-to-back losing seasons. Alex Smith is home, but not nearly out of the woods. Starbucks delivers?

The Baddest Man on the Planet, Laid Out in Tokyo Dec 12, 2018

Show notes

When 42-1 longshot Buster Douglas chopped down Mike Tyson in his prime, it was shock to the sports world like nothing else. But you had to be alive and old enough back then to understand what sheer dominance looked like. It looked like Iron Mike! Notorious J-A-Y and I discuss. Jay puts Mike Tomlin on the dunk tank of being fired, and I put on my best legal defense of Kirk Cousins money can buy. All of that, plus middle fingers, FTG, and various random sports thoughts.

It Always Ends Badly, Just In Different Ways Dec 11, 2018

Show notes

These feel like "End Times" again for Redskins fans in regard to their coach, Jay Gruden. He may well survive to see 2019, but the longer term outlook is grim. Today Andy Pollin and I walk through how other "end times" went with the failed graveyard of Dan Snyder coaches. They all ended badly. Some, strangely. Some suddenly. But... they ended. Because they all really weren't going that well.
