The Creation as a Vision & a Drama Jul 30, 2020

Show notes

The Creation and Garden of Eden stories are masked with mystery. But one way of looking at these stories can provide keys to better understand them. Those keys are "Vision" and "Drama. In other words, in all three scriptural sources of the Creation story (the Old Testament, Book of Moses & Book of Abraham) we can see that though these accounts pull from some history, they were given as visions, not historical accounts. Therefore, trying to reconcile science with a symbolic, spiritual account doesn't make a lot of sense.

'Alma 32- Faith & The Word'

In contrast to the teachings and desires of Korihor, Alma teaches us how The Word, Faith & Perfect Knowledge work. Unlike Korihor, the gospel requires an imperfect knowledge with which we can offer faith (trust), which, if developed properly, can become a Perfect Knowledge. It is Faith before the Signs, not the other way around.

'Korihor- Is There A God?"

Korihor, unlike most adversaries to the church and the Nephites, comes across as an atheist. Most adversaries are full of religious zeal or use religion for wicked ends. Lamoni and his father were asked "Do you believe there is a God?" Korihor receives the same question from Alma but has a different answer. In the end, his arguments are all built on lies. How would each of us answer this question? When the arguments and attacks follow an answer in the affirmative, what do you say?
