"What is Codependency?"

In this intriguing discussion, Nick Galieti and Jennifer Roach discuss their book, Codependent Discipleship. We discuss the interrelationship of codependency with God and with the church, as well as codependency with others.

Codependency can be a type of counterfeit charity. Those with codependency "need" others to need them and then much of their purpose becomes to fix others or situations. Guilt, punishment and insecurity can all play a role with codependency.

"Idols and Spirits"

Doctrine and Covenants Sections 49-50 are similar to what we find with the Children of Israel who were wandering in the desert. They encountered other "religions" and "gods" that were not of Jehovah. The Shakers had some unique beliefs that the Lord, through Joseph Smith, refuted, such as celibacy, shaking, and dismissing baptism and marriage. We learn through these sections that certain"spirits" can appear at first to be from God, but they are deceivers.

"Submission, Holy Ghost, and Gifts"

As we look throughout the scriptures, there are certain "points of introduction" where the authors, as they lay out their spiritual reasoning, give us a clue as to what they are going to cover. In this case, Doctrine and Covenants 46 begins with the Holy Ghost, then goes into submission and the gifts of the Spirit. We see the same formula from Paul in 1 Corinthians 12 and from Moroni in Moroni 10.
