Come Follow Me LDS - Moses 1 and Abraham 3 Part 2 Jan 01, 2022

Show notes

Prelude to Creation Part 2 - Moses 1

Moses 1 is a companion chapter to Abraham 3. Both give a prelude to the visions of the Creation and the Garden of Eden. Very evident in Moses 1 is the theme of "the word" (DBR). The hierarchal structure of the heavens shows that we must be participants in the Fluid Hierarchy. This is how God accomplishes His purpose of bringing "to pass the immortality and eternal life of man."

Come Follow Me LDS - Abraham 3 & Moses 1, Part 1 Dec 21, 2021

Show notes

Prelude to Creation

Abraham 3 and Moses 1 are preludes to the Creation and Garden of Eden stories. They set the stage for these dramas and for the doctrines. Importantly, we discover that these chapters are descriptions of visions that both Abraham and Moses receive. Therefore, we can compare them to other scriptural visions for context and understanding. Kolob then really isn't that strange seen as a metaphor for Christ.

Come Follow Me LDS - The Politically Incorrect Family Proclamation Dec 14, 2021

Show notes

A Very Politically Incorrect Document

The Family Proclamation is not what it once was. Originally, it inspired yawns from Church members and seemed like a "nothing burger" in 1995. Today, with the attacks on and the deconstruction of traditional families, it appears both prophetic and politically incorrect. Marriage between a man and a woman, gender roles, and the spiritual rights of children all seem like an old Disney movie.

It was very similar to his Democratic National Convention speech in 2020. In the end, the BYU audience gave him a standing ovation.

Cristina Rosetti and I talk about the build-up to the 1890 Manifesto known as Official Declaration 1 in the Doctrine and Covenants. The Manifesto is a result of decades of conflict with the US Government and was perhaps the major motivation for the Saints' move west. What is the legal history of plural marriage in the US and what finally brought about the Manifest from President Wilford Woodruff?

Show notes

The Soteriological Problem is one that Christianity has grappled with for 2,000 years. If God is just and loving, but only those who know of Jesus Christ and are baptized by one with authority can be saved, and very few ever get that chance, then . . ? The Restored Gospel answers that question and Baptism for the Dead is a big part of that answer.

Is The Salvation Army Going Woke? Dec 02, 2021

Show notes

The Salvation Army recently presented a document to their organization's employees and volunteers on racism, encouraging their organization to read Ibram Kendi and Robin DiAngelo. It implied tenets of Critical Race Theory and Critical Social Justice. A backlash forced them to remove it. But the organization is just another example of Christianity sliding toward a Social Justice Gospel and Liberation Theology.
