The Lost Tapes Of Neill Woelk Nov 24, 2017
    Show notes

The lost tapes of Neill Woelk, find out the real story why Neill wasn’t on last week’s podcast. Voice of the Buffs Mark Johnson and Woelk break down the early season performance of the men’s basketball team. Whatever “it” is, this team appears to have “it.” The women’s team beat No. 24 Miami, a big time win. The Miami squad is one of the most athletic teams the Buffs have seen in a few years and the Buffs were able to handle them and win the game. The football team is coming off a bye week before the final regular season game at Utah, essentially a playoff game with both teams coming in a 5-6 and playing for a bowl berth.

Football’s on a bye week, so Voice of the Buffs Mark Johnson is coming to you from Lynchburg, Va., where the men’s basketball team is taking part in the Paradise Jam, relocated this year from the US Virgin Islands due to Hurricanes Irma and Maria hitting the region. MJ has way too much fun with Tory Miller and George King. Which player does the best Tad Boyle impersonation? How about the best MJ impersonation? MJ also catches up with Andy Katz, who will broadcast the games for FloHoops. Katz gives good insight into how the Buffs are viewed from the national scene and also what’s happing nationally with the sport. Lastly, MJ catches up with Nels Hawkinson, the founder of the tournament, who talks about what the tournament is still trying to do for the US Virgin Islands. Most of the proceeds from the games in Lynchburg will go to the Islands with a goal of $100,000.

That’s What We Were Looking For Nov 03, 2017
    Show notes

Voice of the Buffs Mark Johnson and CUBuffs.com’s Neill Woelk sit down for this week’s Insider, talking about the performance all Buffs fans were looking for last week against Cal in a 44-28 win. Steven Montez responded to being benched by having his best game of the year. The entire offense took the situation as a challenge and responded. Neill realizes that MJ has a point in that until last week, the Buffs had played under pressure all week and finally look relaxed last week. Can the ASU game be a spring board game? What should fans expect from Todd Graham’s Sun Devils? The two also talk men’s basketball and what can be taken away from the win over Colorado-Mines. Tad Boyle said Tyler Bey may be the most talented player he’s ever coached. How big of a statement is that? How good will George King be this season? Mark Wetmore took the men’s and women’s cross country teams to a first (women’s) and second (men’s) place finish at last weekend’s Pac-12 Championships. He’s now brought home 10 of the possible 14 cross country Pac-12 Championships since the conference expanded.

Roller Coaster Continues Oct 27, 2017
    Show notes

The football team’s roller coaster season continues after being shut out last week at Washington State and the annual Homecoming game against Cal this weekend at Folsom Field. There is a quarterback competition happening this week after Sam Noyer replaced Steven Montez at halftime. Neill called Joel Klatt to talk about the time he was benched (story coming out soon on CUBuffs.com). Neill talks about what he and Joel chatted about. How big is the Cal game? Just about every position can play better, which does coach Mike MacIntyre say has played to full expectation in 2017? Who does Mark and Neill think is the best team in the Pac-12? What were Neill’s favorite memories of Rashaan Salaam? The men’s basketball team hosts an open practice Saturday before the football game. Evan Battey will not be competing, the NCAA is forcing him into an academic redshirt. The two talk about the situation and Tad Boyle’s disappointment with the NCAA in this case as well as how well Battey has taken the situation and turning it into a positive for the team. After Saturday’s scrimmage, the Buffs will play Monday. The two also talk about Mark Wetmore’s cross country teams, who are at Pac-12 Championships this weekend.

Change of Philosophy Oct 20, 2017
    Show notes

Voice of the Buffs Mark Johnson and CUBuffs.com’s Neill Woelk talk Colorado Football. Will the change of offensive philosophy enable Phillip Lindsay to move higher on the career charts? How high can he go? Steven Montez is coming off his second career fourth-quarter comeback in 10 career starts, is he finding his groove? On the defensive side, what do the Buffs need to do to slow down the Washington State attack? Does Derek McCartney finally have his football legs back? Nobody’s talked much about special teams, which may be a good thing.

They also talk men’s basketball. The individual pieces seem to be there, how will they gel and come together as a team.
