    Ctrl Alt Delete

Ctrl Alt Delete subverts the traditional career show. Instead, it’s for people who are more interested in shaping their work rather than letting their work shape them. The main focus is work, wellbeing and creativity. Hosted by bestselling author Emma Gannon, she has a gentle line of questioning that starts with work, and ends up wherever the conversations lead. Named Best Business podcast by Vuelio, Webby award nominee and named 50 Best Podcasts by Sunday Times, Ctrl Alt Delete is a gateway into new ideas – with past guests varying far and wide including Elizabeth Gilbert, Reni Eddo-Lodge, Jacqueline Wilson, Lena Dunham, Julia Cameron, Priyanka Chopra-Jonas, Ava DuVernay, Gillian Anderson and Mrs Hinch.

#377 Clover Stroud: Writing About Life & Death (Part 1) Apr 07, 2022
    Show notes

My guest today is writer and journalist Clover Stroud. I adore her writing and outlook on the world. Her first book, The Wild Other, was shortlisted for The Wainwright Prize. Her second book, My Wild & Sleepless Nights: A Mother's Story was rated one of the 'best books of the year, 2020' by the Observer and the Telegraph and was a Sunday Times bestseller. And her third memoir The Red Of My Blood might just be my favourite of them all. In this book, Clover is looking at life, death and grief. She is asking the question: can death bring something good to my life? A few weeks before Christmas, Clover's sister died of breast cancer, aged forty-six. Her sudden death broke Clover's life into pieces. The Red of My Blood charts Clover's surreal and fearless journey through the first year after her sister's death. This is a really special book and really recommend you pick up a copy. This is part one of our conversation, and part two will be released right after it so if you enjoyed go and check out part two now :)

#376 Madeleine Dore: Letting Go Of Productivity Guilt Apr 04, 2022
    Show notes

Madeleine Dore is my guest today, a writer and interviewer exploring how we can broaden the definition of a day well spent. Her book I Didn’t Do The Thing Today is gentle wise and insightful look at letting go of productivity guilt and it is out now. It’s a truly wonderful look at how we unravel the relationship between our output with inner self worth. With Madeleine’s excellent writing interspersed with lots of other wise voices, this book helps the reader feel less anxious, stressed or disappointed and takes productive routines off a pedestal and helps us embrace the messy middle bits. For the past five years, Madeline has been asking creative thinkers how they navigate their days on her popular blog Extraordinary Routines and podcast Routines & Ruts which I highly recommend you check out. Hope you enjoy this conversation!

#374 Julia Hobsbawm: Do We Still Need Offices? Mar 10, 2022
    Show notes

My guest today is Julia Hobsbawm: entrepreneur, writer, and consultant who addresses the challenges of this hyper connected age. She is Chair of the content and connection business Editorial Intelligence. She is the author of six bestselling books including The Simplicity Principle and Fully Connected. Today we are discussing her latest book The Nowhere Office, a book that proposes a radical new way of thinking about work both now and in the future. This isn’t an anti-office book but more a look at what the world now looks like: are offices not needed in the same way? What does the future look like? It covers the new challenges of remote working, repurposing offices for more creativity, managing WFH teams and how to work with purpose and greater work/life balance. I really enjoyed it, it reminded me of so much I was writing about in The Multi-Hyphen Method pre-pandemic, so i found it fascinating speaking to her. I hope you enjoy it :)

My guest today is Rebecca Seal, an episode all about loneliness and working from home. Rebecca is the author of Solo: How to Work Alone (and Not Lose Your Mind). It’s a fantastic book absolutely filled to the brim with wfh advice and tips and anecdotes. It's a science and evidence-based exploration of what working alone does to your brain and well-being, and how to cope with the more difficult aspects of solo work.
