Parental Guidance: How To Handle "Difficult" Parents Sep 26, 2023

Show notes

This week Devin Siebold and James Yon are crying in their cars over having to deal with difficult parents in schools. Devin discovers Michigan's secret educational weapon: identical teaching twins (double the eyes, double the trouble!) and puzzles over a prodigious 16-year-old Oklahoma teacher with three degrees (Does she even remember a world where Steve Irwin existed?). Meanwhile, a superintendent takes the 'sailing into the sunset' approach amidst a timecard scandal, prompting Devin to ponder the state of her vacation finances.

James delves deep into the parent-teacher dimension, offering sage advice on handling those tricky parent-teacher conferences. Face-to-face? Sounds great, unless it's at a Chili's happy hour and the reason for the meet-up rhymes with 'your kid makes me drink'. And finding common ground? Let's just say some terrains are a bit rockier than others.

Finally, we dive into parent territory, investigating a mom giving some good ol' lip service at school and another with TikTok rule fame. From musical dining bans to enforced piano servitude, these rules sound like a mix of a reality show and a parenting guide gone rogue.

So grab those grading pens, because Devin and James are about to take you on a wild ride!
