Witiker's Well of Wondrous Magic Items

Magic permeates the fantasy world and is at the core of sword and sorcery games. Magic comes in a variety of shapes and sizes, from powerful artifacts that keep cities afloat in the sky, to a magical blade that bursts into flame with a simple command word.

Adventuring is dangerous work, and it is almost a guarantee, no matter how powerful, agile, or tactful an adventurer is, they will end up against something that mundane weapons just can't hurt. The power stored within magical weapons is one that adventurers spend their careers chasing.

Making treasure chests, hoards, or just items used by enemies can add much-needed variety. This generator is designed to help that along.

Foundry Apr 21, 2021

Foundry VTT

What is a virtual tabletop, or "VTT"? For our purposes, is an all-in-one solution for using the internet to play tabletop RPGs. When you use a VTT, you can play Dungeons and Dragons or almost any other RPG with your friends without needing to be sitting at the same table. This makes it viable to play with long-distance or socially distanced people.

Let's be honest. The pandemic has been horrible worldwide. Where we once gathered weekly with our friends, we must now do over the internet. For a social game like Dungeons and Dragons, this is a notably different way to experience the game. Fortunately for powerful resources such as Foundry VTT, we can still gather at our tables. All be it in a social distancing manner now.

Foundry is certainly a beautiful Virtual Tabletop platform. Unlike some of its competitors, it does have an upfront ONE-TIME investment cost of $50. But honestly, that isn't any more cost than a new hardcover RPG book. The difference is that it is useful across many different RPG games. Making it extremely versatile. One thing that really stands out, and that expands on its versatility, is that it allows other content creators tons of mods to enhance the experience. Kinda like DLC in a game. This adds an absolute plethora of content to the VTT experience, as it is extremely customizable.

Strongholds & Followers Mar 31, 2021

Show notes

In Dungeons and Dragons the game transitions from local problems to national problems to global problems. Eventually, your characters build renown and recognition with those around the world.

Strongholds and Followers seeks to recreate an old-school style of play, giving the players reasons to build strongholds such as castles and interact with those who follow your characters.

In this book you will find rules for four types of strongholds: keeps help you raise armies and improve your fighting ability, temples help you summon extraplanar allies to aid you in battle, towers let you research new spells, and establishments let you collect secrets and generate cash.

Every stronghold also improves your signature class feature, powering up your Bardic Inspiration or your monk's Ki. Strongholds grant improved class features because they draw power from the land itself.

Top 10 Alternative Ways to Use Inspiration in D&D Mar 17, 2021

Show notes

Inspiration is a Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition rule the game master can use to reward you for playing your character in a way that's true to his or her personality traits, ideal, bond, and flaw. By using inspiration, you can draw on your personality trait of compassion for the downtrodden to give you an edge in negotiating with the Beggar Prince. Or inspiration can let you call on your bond to the defense of your home village to push past the effect of a spell that has been laid on you.

From a mechanic standpoint, it allows you to reroll a d20 at any point with your inspiration point.

In this episode Crit Academy is joined by guest-host and TikTok influencer Game Master Craig. Together we will be discussing our Top 10 Alternative Ways to use D&D5e Inspiration beyond just rerolling a d20.
