At a presser called at short notice by the FBI on June 20 2024, it was revealed that the man who murdered Lollie and Julie on May 24 1996 in the Shenandoah National Park has been identified as Walter ‘Leo’ Jackson Snr, a convicted serial rapist. Incredible news, yes, but many questions remain including: what evidence was tested and/or submitted resulting in the DNA hit? Why did it take so long to identify him? How and why was he missed? How many other women has he harmed and/or killed before and after?

Laura continues her interview with Josiah’s warrior mom, Liz Hilderbrand. Two men, James and Donovan Cloud, were arrested and in custody by Monday 10th June for the White Swan Murders which took place on Saturday 8th June 2019. With the discovery of Josiah and John’s skeletal remains, Liz believed charges would follow. That didn’t happen.

A plea deal was offered to James and Donovan Cloud. It was taken by Donovan Cloud. You will hear the details of that deal in this episode.

A must listen episode if you want to understand coercive control and the warning signs to look out for, including how an abuser coercively controls a child and undermines those trying to safeguard and protect the child.

Breanna shares when she first saw the treadmill abuse video and that although a worker from the Department of Child Protection and Permanency (DCP&P) viewed the video, staggeringly they did not include it in their report to Judge Patrick Bradshaw at the Emergency Custody Order hearing on March 31, 2021. Breanna also reveals what DCP&P worker said to her having watched Christopher Gregor abuse six-year-old Corey on the treadmill. What she shares is utterly mind-blowing. Corey was killed just days later.

Ep 192: Corey Micciolo: My Son’s Death Could Have Been Prevented with Breanna Micciolo Jun 14, 2024

On April 2 2021 6-year-old Corey Micciolo was taken to Southern Ocean County Medical Center in New Jersey by Christopher Gregor. Corey sadly died at 502pm, alone without his mother present. Corey had been discharged from Jersey Shore Medical Center the night before and was given a clean bill of health, bar many bruises and contusions on his body after he was abused by Gregor on a treadmill on March 20 2021. Corey was due to be interviewed on April 2 by a trained child abuse evaluator – he never made that appointment.

Laura and Breanna unravel the timeline going to back to when she first met Gregor, his behaviour and the warning signs prior to sweet Corey’s death. Trigger warning: this is not an easy listen but it’s important and might save a child’s life.

Josiah disappeared whilst en-route to a concert at the Gorge Amphitheatre in Washington State on June 7, 2019. Liz explains when she first realised her son, Josiah, was missing and what happened next.

A total of seven people were killed in what would become the fourth largest mass murder in the USA in 2019.
