Marisa Anne Cummings, a Los Angeles based artist + author + entrepreneur, actually started the Creative Thursday podcast in 2006. What? what! how is that even possible? And yes! she wishes she had kept it going after all these years. Yet as a small business owner, maybe you can relate? choices needed to be made, and a passion for painting and continuing to build her art business became her focus. Cut to over a decade later, armed with SO many more lessons learned, and a – can no longer be suppressed – desire to share them with you! Marisa is ready to make a return to one of the first creative mediums she loved, podcasting! Even more fired up than before, Marisa is looking forward to picking up where she left off on her creative journey through both – one her favorite things to do – having thoughtful, inspiring, keeping it real, conversations with fellow Creatives + Business Owners along with offering her own perspective as an artist and entrepreneur, traversing this online world. A conversation with a Mother and Daughter, a personal story of a dynamic, passionate, independent Woman whose life began during WWII in Germany and ultimately brought her to the United States with via Italy and Paris, France, the Bahamas, and Russia.

Not our usual creative business chat, but we talk about life, from family, generational evolutions, culture, career, travel to love and teddy bears.

A very big leap of trust for a deeply private person to share her story here with us.

Want peace of mind as an Artist, Solo-preneur Creative Business owner?

I'll never forget what one of my early Mentors said to me "You want to sleep at night as an entrepreneur? You're going to want many eggs in your basket"

And she was right. By eggs, she was referring to multiple revenue streams. The part that I would add today is to make as many revenue streams as you can recurring revenue.

Artists in particular have to be very careful about conserving their energy, especially when they turn their Art into a business because feeling inspired is not only tied to your creative well but to your income.

It's all too easy to experience burnout when you're consistently creating for your revenue.

You can really sleep at night when you have consistent income coming in, in some cases while you're sleeping.
